We walk down the hall, no longer as worried about kakos.
"What now? Back to the announcement room?" Nox asks.
"Yeah, I think that's a good idea. We'll meet you guys back in the room," I say, starting to walk away with Nox and Mercedes.
"Wait!" Leila cries, standing frozen.
She looks around. "Did you hear that?"Everyone stops, listening.
"I heard it again!" Leila cries, taking off down the hall.
"Oh, not this again," I mutter, and we chase after her.
Leila skids to a stop in front of a seemingly random room.
We all crowd in front of the doorway, looking in.
Loose dirt is scattered all over the floor, and plants cover the windowsills, their long snaky vines curling towards the ground.
In the centre of the room, sits two girls.
Upon us entering the room, their eyes open together, as if they share one brain.
They look about the same age as Ryith.
One has curly, ginger hair, and the other has straight, brown hair, and a face absolutely covered in freckles.
You'd have no idea if they were related or not, if not for the eyes. Both girls have the most incredibly piercing green eyes, so bright in colour that they almost look fake.
I can't tell if it's just a trick of the light, but their skin appears almost...green.
Before any of us can say anything, the redhead opens her mouth.
"Are you one of them?" She asks, her tone wary.
"You don't look like them," The freckled one comments.
"We're not a part of OHAR, if that's what you're asking. We're not going to hurt you," I answer.
"We're going to get you out of here," Leila adds.
"You mean..." The redhead starts.
"We get to leave?" The freckled one finishes.
They look at each other and smile genuinely joyous smiles.
"Yes, once this fight is over, you can leave with us," Gray tells them.
"Can we ask you some questions?" I ask cautiously.
The girls nod together. I step fully into the room, sitting in front of them.
The other kids do they same, with Nora and Ryith sitting excitedly next to the girls.
Once I sit down, I notice their skin does, in fact, have a very light green hue. I ignore it, for now.
"What are your names?" Leila asks, smiling at them.
"We don't have names," Freckles starts.
"We have numbers. I am 475," Ginger says.
"And I am 476," Freckles adds.
Oh dear. I look at Leila, who has the same concerned look as me.
"Well, my name is Autumn," I say, smiling at them.
"I'm Leila," She says.
"My name's Mercedes!"
"I'm Gray."
"Nox."
"My name's Oakley."
