Leila unleashes a new anger that I've never seen before, and frankly, it's scaring me a little.
She sets our black night-shadow goo aflame, and quickly, a horrendous smell fills my nose.
Alright, good to know, burnt night-shadow smells like a corpse.
Juliette, furious, yells something at the night-shadows that I don't quite catch, in a language I don't understand.
Right before I'm about to snatch my (still empty) crossbow, a night-shadow beats me to it. Instead of trying to use it, it snaps it in half.
I gape in anger.
"That was my baby!" I screech, giving the creature a hard shove.
I imagine another me to its left, then to its right as well.
While it looks back and forth between us, I lunge forward and shove it again, and this time, it falls off the edge of the roof.
I peer over the edge. It's dead.
One down, four to go. Compared to the amounts we've had to fight before, this should be a piece of cake.
I run over to Ryith, trying to fight with a broken rake.
"You've got an even better weapon inside of you," I say, smiling at him.
He grins, and puts down the shovel.
Suddenly, a yellow flash comes out of his hand, and goes into the night-shadow.
It shakes and shivers violently, before falling to the ground, dead.
"Was that...lighting?" I ask him.
He nods, smiling ear-to-ear.
Aw, man. Everyone but me's discovering these cool talents with their anomalies.
Well, I guess it makes sense, since I've only known about mine for about a week.
I run over to Nora, whose staring sadly at her broken shovel. I'm guessing a night-shadow snapped it like my crossbow.
"It's okay, little flower, you know what's even better than your shovel? Your voice," I smile, winking at her.
She giggles, and almost on cue, Gray appears out of nowhere with an armful of headphones.
"Figured we'd need these," He grins, and tosses them out to everyone.
Everyone quickly slips them on, and we gather into a little crowd.
For a moment, the 2 night-shadows left seem confused, and they stand frozen, unsure of what to do.
Juliette realizes what's about to happen, and her eyes go wide.
"No, no no no! Don't do it Nora!" She begs, trying to scramble away.
Gray appears in front of her, blocking her way.
The polar opposite from before, we're in charge now.
I look around, and everyone is buzzing with adrenaline fuelled excitement. I grin, watching.
Juliette whimpers and covers her ears, even though Nora hasn't even opened her mouth yet.
Then, without warning, it starts.
Getting louder, louder, louder. The headphones help, but as Nora gets louder and louder, it's not enough.
