(Ezra pov)
"Grievous," I reply, quickly spinning around.
"You would have been wise to stay in your cell." The cyborg flicks two lightsabers to life, one the colour of sky and one the gleam of an emerald. Although shocked that Grevious has lightsabers, I manage to recover and think fast.
"I'm not the smartest," I grin and Force-pull another lightsaber from the General's belt, igniting the teal saber the second it lands in my palm. "However, I'm a pretty good swordsman. Allow me to show you."
I Force-leap towards him, twirling my blade midair. Our green blades clash and the blue one swipes towards me. I pull back and duck and then weave as the green one slices at me. I move in for a strike but am forced to turn it into a parry in order to keep my head on my body.
I quickly discover that fighting a flexible cyborg armed with two lightsabers is not easy. At all. I can't get in a single offensive strike and am forced to keep running away from the blades in order to stay in one piece.
"I'm not very impressed," Grevious banters at me as I jump over two low-swinging strikes. "Your reputation presedes you, Ezra."
"Does it?" I reply, twitching my hand towards him. The General soars backwards into a wall. "You forgot that I have the Force, General."
Suddenly Grevious is rebounding with the moment from my Force-push and his clawed feet are slamming into my chest. I scream as my skin is pierced and I'm forced to the ground at high-speed. The lightsaber flies out of my hand as I make impact and I'm panting as my head slams into the floor full force. Grevious pulls his claws out from my chest and resisting the urge to sob in pain, I gingerly finger the bloody wounds that are soaking through my tunic. Two lightsabers appear at my throat. I feel the heat on my skin, like the sun on a hot day. But this sun is deadly upon contact.
"So disappointing, Bridger," the General sneers. "I really did expect more. I guess you're just a boy with the Force after all."
"Why you always underestimate the Force is beyond me," a voice calls.
Grevious flies over me and I hear a clang. Slowly, dizzily, I raise my head. I almost faint, and not just from the wounds I've incurred.
A younger version of Ahsoka stands at the end of the hallway, armed with two green lightsabers. Beside her, is the Chosen One himself: Anakin Skywalker.
"Get Bridger," Anakin orders Ahsoka. "I'll handle the General." He grins roguishly. I like him immediately.
"Roger, Skyguy," Younger Ahsoka smiles and both of them start running towards me. Skyguy? Anakin Force-leaps over me and I hear lightsabers clash behind me.
"Ezra?" Ahsoka crouches over me. "Are you okay?"
I nod slightly, still stunned. "I'll be fine." Ahsoka helps me sit up, my movements gingerly. I wince at the pain in my chest.
"We'll have to treat your wounds on the way back to the Temple," Ahsoka tells me, eyeing me worriedly.
"That's ok," I smile shakily. "Did Master Yoda tell you...."
"About the fact that you're from the future?" She questions. "Oh yeah. It's pretty awesome, to be honest. Probably a bad time to ask, but I have to: Am I a Jedi Knight? In the future?"
She awaits my answer eagerly, but I can see it in her eyes: She's positive that she will be a Jedi. But her version of a Jedi Knight is at the Temple, surrounded by her friends and a galaxy of freedom. Not by evil, with everyone you ever knew dead. She doesn't know that she's going to leave the Jedi Order. The Ahsoka I know is still a Jedi, in my opinion, but it's not quite the same as being one in this timeline.
I don't have the heart to break it to her.
"Yes," I smile weakly. The sounds of lightsabers crashing in my ears are like a drum beat. Thump. Thump. Thump. I wish it would put me to sleep.
Her eyes light up and she grins. "Thanks, Ezra. Now let's get you out of here."
She wraps an arm around my waist and slings my arm over her shoulders and neck and gently pulls me up. We start limping slowly away, back the way the two Jedi came from when they saved my life, but the sound of exploding glass from behind us makes Ahsoka spin me around in alarm. The movement makes my head whirl and it's up to Ahsoka to keep me upright.
Grevious has shattered a window and perches in it eerily, like a predator. Wind blows through my long hair and chills my skin. Anakin is forced to jump backwards in order to not be sucked into the General. "A pleasure fighting, Skywalker," Grevious snarls. He looks at me. "We will meet again, Padawan Bridger."
I really hope not.
Anakin senses what's going to happen and sprints forward. But it's too late. Grevious tucks into a ball and flies backwards. The wind pulls him into space and he begins to float away.
"We need to seal the window!" Anakin shouts, retreating towards Ahsoka and I. "Otherwise, our oxygen is gonna be gone before we're clear of that breach!"
I pull away from Ahsoka and stumble forward. She reaches for me but I shake my head. "I've got an idea!"
I shut my colbalt eyes. Summoning all of my remaining strength, I Force-lift a piece of jagged metal lying on the floor towards the hole Grevious escaped in. "Seal it with the heat from your lightsabers!" I yell as the durasteel drifts closer to the breach. It slams softly onto the hole in the wall and Anakin and Ahsoka rush forward as the air stills again. Working in a semi-circle each, they close the opening by sealing the edges of the durasteel.
I release my grip on the Force and breathe deeply. Suddenly I'm swaying on my feet. Shouting around me reaches my ears, breaching the sirens on replay. Anakin and Ahsoka. They're running towards me.... "Ezra! Just hang on!" Skywalker calls. But it's too much for me to handle. I tumble to the ground and surrender to the black.
Just going to say that the duel between Ezra and the General was meant to be quick, because let's be honest, Ezra is no match for Grevious. Come on, Ezzy. Learn something already. :) -LRUF
