Star Wars Rebels: Time Travel

Chapter 24

(Hera pov)

"Feeling better, love?" I ask Kanan as he limps out of the Jedi Temple medical centre. "You look it."

"Yeah," he answers. "I just want to get back to the Ghost. I don't like–" he lowers his voice. "–Being back here. It's.... unsettling. And if I run into Depa.... I don't know what I'd do."

He trails off and I see pain in his turquoise eyes. "Hey," I say gently, laying a hand on his shoulder. "The others are having a meeting about how to get back to our own time, with Yoda, Anakin, and young Ahsoka. We should go join them."

He nods and we set off down the hallways that are all-too familiar to him.

"So let's get this straight," I say, still not quite believing what I'm hearing. "To get back to our own time, you want us to eject ourselves into dead space, and touch the crystal when we're almost out of oxygen?"

"According to the Temple's records about the crystal," Anakin nods at the colourful crystal Ezra's holding. "It's the only way."

"Are you sure that this will work?" I raise an eyebrow doubtfully.

"Hm.... quite risky," Yoda observes.

"Risks are kind of what we're all about," Kanan replies. "Anybody object to trying this?"

You could have heard the softest breathing in the silence.

"Ok," I say finally. "But first, does anybody know if my droid is in this time period or back on the Ghost?"

"From what I've read, the crystal can't teleport things that aren't living matter. That's why none of you are in the clothing you were wearing from your time," Ahsoka puts in.

"Makes sense," Zeb mutters. "Even though the bucket of bolts has still got more sass than any other living being." He and Ezra snicker. I fix them with my death stare and they fall silent, only traces of their smiles remaining.

"A ship, we have. Escort you, Anakin and Ahsoka will," Yoda nods at us. "May the Force be with you."
