Chapter 9 (Part 2)

You look at Jesse in disbelief. "Help us!" Your eyes widen, "N-No...i-it c-can't..." You drop to your knees, "I can't...I can't do this." You hear Jesse's inhuman voice laugh, "You're givin' up? That was easier than I thought." You look at with tears, "I can't fight you like this! There has to be another way, Jesse!" "Y/N." You see Dharc and reply, "I know what you're going to say." Dharc remarks, "If you know then say it." You respond with a shaky voice, "Get up and face your fear, Y/N. Stop doubting your heart and do what you feel is right." You hear Aussa say, "No matter what happens, we will stay by your side."

You touch your cheek and remember the day you first met Jesse. "Y/N, snap out of it!" It was Zane. How can I? Another voice spoke up as well, "C'mon Y/N, Jesse wouldn't want you to give up on him." Jaden... You look at Jaden and your friends before looking at Jesse with lost hope. "Jaden's right, Y/N. You mustn't give up on Jesse." You look at Jesse once more and say, "Jesse, I'm not going to give up on you! You never gave up on me, so I'm going to return the favour!" Jesse laughs, "How cute."

Jesse's mind was a clouded storm of regret. He couldn't control his body and tell it to stop acting like a sleepless soul. Jesse screams inside his mind, "Don't touch her, you creep!" The creature ignores his cries and cackles to itself.

You said to Jesse, "If words won't get you to snap out of it, maybe this duel will." Jesse didn't answer you back. You add, "I'll do whatever it takes to save you, Jesse Anderson. I'm not going to put my life on the line for nothing." Jesse remarks, "If you think you can save me, then go right ahead." You both said, "Let's duel!" A voice spoke to you, "Do not be afraid." You didn't recognize the voice but it was calming in your opinion. You knew that there was a lot at stake, Jesse was the one you were concerned about the most. You hear Jesse speak, "I'm going first." Jesse smirks and thinks to himself, "This hand is perfect. I just need to find a way for her to fall into my trap." He pretends to clear his throat, "I summon Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat in attack mode. I end my turn with a face down." You breathe out a small sigh of temporary relief. "Don't be too relieved, he couldn't attack since it was his first turn." You said, "Alright, my move. I place a monster on the field in defense mode. I end my turn with two face downs." All I can do for now is play defense. Amethyst Cat's ability is going to be a problem. I wish that it didn't have to be this way. Jesse comments with sarcasm, "Oh I'm so scared." He adds, "I'm not going to give in that easily, L/N." You began to panic inside, "I'm going to lose the duel at this rate." Jesse cackled as he said, "Attack Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat! Amethyst Power Pounce!" He adds, "My monster can attack you directly but that damage is halved. Disappointing but it's amusing in my eyes." Amethyst Cat growls and pounces at you, scratching you in the process. Alexis and Jaden yell, "Y/N!" You scowl as your life points descend. Y/N: 4000>>3400. You look at the monster on the field and think, "Wait a bit longer. We'll get our payback soon, I promise." You at the field once more and hear Dharc ask, "Why are you still playing defense?"  "I'm waiting." "For what? A miracle? I'm a bit lost, Y/N?" "Dharc, I'm waiting for Jesse to attack the monster on my side of the field." "Why?" "You'll see." You said to Jesse, "I summon Blast Magician in defense mode. I end my turn." Blast Magician warns, "You're playing a dangerous game, Y/N. Be careful of his movements." You look at Jesse before looking to your spirits sadly. I'm making the right choice, even if we both lose in the end.

Jesse's heart felt conflicted. His heart and mind were being controlled by the darkness within his own undoing. A part of him wanted to win, but the other part wanted to lose just so you wouldn't feel any pain. Just to hear your voice before this ended with tears.
