I had seen Jason break into a run and I found myself following him until he ran into Lia and looked around like a mad man on the verge of snapping. I walk up to them and he tells us what was going on to make him panic so much and then I saw the flicker of a figure. It was a blink and you'll miss it moment but it was a non mistakable form and I tensed as Lia inhaled sharply.
"He's here." She breaths and we start to walk towards where we last saw him and then we were jogging and then running, panic coursing through us and as we reach the crest of the hill we see the man standing about thirty feet from Jaclyn who stood stock still watching his every move. We hear the other two come up behind us and Adam muttered something under his breath as he took in the scene before us. We hear a strangled, tortured sound come from Jason and looked to him. His normally carefully calm face gone and worry and fear was clear in his eyes but yet he didn't move and I found myself wondering why. Why we just stood there, watching in shock as the shy, terrified girl we all knew faced the man that had plagued her for years, the man that struck terror in her, the man that killed her family all those years ago, the man that could decide her fate within moments too short for you to catch. Why Jason was just watching, his emotions out where we could all see them as clear as day and then the last attack happened and we find ourselves fighting against the Enemy with the last bit of strength we had left in us on that hill.
