When I wake up Adam is already up and is sitting near the window. My shoulder aches and I sit up. He looks over and gives me a brief smile before turning back to the window.

"How does your arm feel?" He asks and I shrug sending pain through my arm.

"Like I got stabbed." I say and he chuckles.

"I meant besides that." He says and I swing my legs out of the bed.

"Other than that, it's fine." I say and he nods.

'That's good. Don't use it for much so it can heal." He instructs and I roll my eyes.

"Yes, mother." I tease and he smiles at me.

"I only want the best for you, darling." he says making his voice higher than it was and batting his eyes at me. I laugh and he smiles. Once I calmed down a comfortable silence fell over us and then I remembered the others.

"How are the others? I ask and he nods.

"Joseph is awake and his usual self." He says and I wait for him to say more but when he doesn't I frown.

"And Jaclyn?' I ask carefully and he shrugs.

"The healer said she'd live." He says tensely and I frown.

"How is she?" I ask and he sighs.

"I don't know. Jason is with her but its taking a toll on him. We are worried she won't make it." he says and I feel sick. I nod slowly and he stands and walks over to me. He crouches in front of me and takes my hands in his. "She's been through worse. She'll make it." he says quietly and I nod. I want to believe it so much but I saw her wounds too, she was dying on that field. She was close to death for too long, could she make it through that? Could anyone make it through that?
