Chapter 6: Prison

"Hey Rick I'm going on a run okay". I called

"Okay be careful and try to be home before dark. I know it sounds funny but we need to keep better tabs on each other." Rick said giving me permission to leave

"Thanks I'm gonna leave here in maybe fifteen minutes I have to gather some stuff up". I said back thinking of which car to take

"Um your not going anywhere!" Daryl said in a dead serious tone that reminded me of my dads when I wanted to go out with some friends

"And why aren't I?" I asked with a snotty tone and popping my hip out to one side and placing my hand on it for extra emphasis

"Because after the last time we went on we split up and you seen how that went. So why would I let you go alone?" Daryl asked

"Because I'm a big girl and can take care of her self and you of all people should know that better than anyone." I told him

"It doesn't mean you should go alone. Food is getting scarce around here for the walkers so they are moving in closer and closer your more likely to get bitten or trapped or eaten now than you were a week ago." Daryl said

"But we need supplies and if I don't go then who will? Besides I need to get away and look around I need to get my boundaries back a little I haven't been off the farm in a while so I have to." I told him

"Fine." he said

"Thank you." I told him feeling accomplished

"But I'm coming with you." Daryl said

"Wait why?" I asked

"Because I want to I agree with you." He said

"Fine." I said walking toward Rick

"Take the Ford it has the most gas and while your out bring back more." He said reading my mind

"Thanks." I told him walking toward the truck. "You coming Daryl?" I shouted out loud so where ever he was he could hear me then I opened the passenger side door to the truck.

"Yeah" He said making me jump twelve feet into the air he was already sitting in the drivers seat

"Holy shit you scared me." I told him

"I can tell now hop in." He said starting the ignition

I then did what he said and hopped inside the truck and buckled my seat belt after shutting the door. Daryl put the truck in reverse an adjusted his mirrors and back up into a little turn around area in the yard. Then he pulled it out of the drive way. The ride was quite and we both didn't know which way to go we just followed the road but kept notes so we didn't get lost.

"So why did you wanna come and be honest I know what you said back there was a bunch of bull." I told him

"You wanna know the truth?" He asked me

"No Daryl I want you to tell me another lie no shit I want the truth." I said smirking

"Okay I wanted to come because I like hanging out with you...."he said

"That it?" I asked

"And if you haven't noticed I am extremely protective of you." He said

"That it." I asked

"Your an amazing girl your funny cool and your very pretty that's why I don't want nothing to happen to you. I won't let anything happen to you. When I left you at the town I felt horrible and cried on my way back to the farm I got there and screamed at Rick to get everyone around because we were coming to find you. I wasn't gonna let you be there I was gonna find you no matter what! I was gonna find you! And that was a promise!" Daryl told said complete seriousness and after a long pause he said "Besides I like you if you know what I mean. Which I'm pretty sure we both know that you do know what I mean."

"Wow" I said completely and utterly shocked "IIII" I stuttered out

"Hey we could clean this place out" Daryl said cutting me off and changing the subject.

"Yeah okay sure." I said hopping out if the truck and grabbing my weapons out of the back seat.

"You go check all the houses on the right I'll get the left if you get into any trouble scream for me and I will be there in a split second and that's a promise and a guarantee." He told me

"Okay sounds good." I said still in a little shock but I snap out of it quickly and focus on the task at hand.

I then listened to Daryl's instructions and checkout all the houses on the right there was literally nothing in them. As I left the last house and was heading back toward the car something shiny caught my eye. As I backed up a little bit I looked through the woods and the shiny kept sparkling. So I walked into the woods and tried to find the light. After getting closer and closer to the sparkle I finally came to the last set of bushes to go through before seeing what it was. I pushed through the bushes and stood in awe. What I thought was just the light reflecting of something turned out to be a prison. This was a new beginning for us back at the farm...... I could feel it.
