The next day we were outside and were clearing off the fences...again. When I saw another walker with the blood trails down it's face. What in the world was going on well besides the apocalypse. I wonder if I was the only one who noticed it. I had to tell Hershel he's a docto.... I mean vet. He should know what it is....possibly. But for now I had a job to do. I stuck my crowbar in between the chain linked fence and stabbed each walker in the head. They dropped like rocks one by one. It was quite disgusting but I was getting used to it. But I don't think I'll ever get the smell of burning flesh out of my nose.
"Hey Maggie where's your dad?" I asked
"Mmmm probably in with the medicine re organizing it or taking inventory one what we have and need. Why?"Maggie said
"I just need to see him can you and Bob handle this?" I asked again
"Yeah sure go ahead we got it." She said
"Thanks." I said turning around and hanging the crowbar on the inside chain linked fence before running up to the cell block and into the doctoring cell
"Hey Riley how's your arm?" Hershel asked when I walked in
"Fine thanks but hey have you ever heard of something when someone had like blood cling out of there eyes? I saw a walker inside F and one outside have it." I said
"Mmmm no I would probably know it I I saw it. I'm sorry dear." He said
"Okay never mind." I said leaving the cell and going upstairs to my cell
I walked into my cell and grabbing my jacket. I then walked down the stairs and outside while slipping my arms through my jacket sleeves. Walking toward the main gates I had Carl open them so I could kill the walkers who were stabbed on our wooden stake barrier. Once finished I was heading back toward the cell blocks slowly.
"WALKERS IN F!" Glen shouted running out of cell block C the main area
"RICK! LETS GO!" I yelled at Rick who was at the garden
"Carl get in the tower with Maggie!" Rick said running up and catching up with me
We ran inside and it was a war zone. Walkers everywhere biting and eating on people.
"Here get in the cell shut the door!" I hollered shoving three little kids inside a cell
"RILEY WATCH OUT"! Daryl hollered
"Huh!" I said turning around seeing a walker two inches from my face with an arrow through it's skull. It dropped to the floor. I was in shock I was breathing in heavy gasps of air. "HOLY SHIT!" I yelled
"Watch out!" Daryl hollered
"Rick turn around!" I screamed releasing an arrow from my crossbow.
"Thanks Riley!" Rick said
"HELP!" I heard a little girl scream
"I'm coming!" I said running up to the second floor and seeing a little girl being back up in a corner from a walker . I pulled up my bow and pulled the trigger. Making the walker drop like a rock in front of the little girl. I ran up to her and picked her and ran her into a cell shutting the door. "Stay here don't move until we tell you okay."
"Thank you." The little girl said after I ran out of the cell and shutting it closed behind me
"RILEY!" Glen called
"Shit!" I pulled up my bow again and shot a walker Glen was trying to fight off
"Thanks." He said in return
"DARYL!" I yelled seeing a walker grab his leg before it flopped back onto the ground
"Thanks!" Daryl said when I ran up to him hugging him and retrieving my arrow from the walkers head "How do you think this started?"
"It was Pete.. he was fine yesterday...." Daryl said looking at the one I shot
"I saw him yesterday when I was out of the shower he was coughing pretty bad." I said
"He choked on his own blood." Hershel said coming up behind us "It's a disease and were all infected now. You don't die from this you die from it's symptoms mostly chocking in your own blood."
"Eww poor guy." I said
"Wait you said were all infected now?" Daryl asked
"Yes." Hershel said
"How do we stop it?" Daryl asked again
"You don't it has to run it's course." Hershel said
"Fine. But if anyone gets sick this needs to be the cell block where they are kept." Daryl said
"I agree let's just hope nobody get it." Hershel said
"Come on let's go everyone is already back in C." I said
The rest of the day we cleared out everyone from F that was bitten. We buried them out by the tombs. We don't burn people we knew or were part of our group. Everyone else who was in F that wasn't bite was kept in cells in F because they were a threat to being sick, dying and biting others. I walked outside to the tombs and helped them start digging some more holes. We buried about ten people.
"You alright?" Daryl asked looking at me from the hole he was digging
"Yeah just they were all fine yesterday and I even spoke to Pete. Its just hard to believe that they are gone." I said looking at the bodies
"Yeah I know." Daryl said "I just hope nobody else gets sick. I'm tired of losing people."
"Me too." I told him
We finished the graves and stuck each body in one. We then all gathered around and said some words about the people before we all headed up to our cells to sleep.
I couldn't breathe! I tried to but couldn't. I coughed over and over trying to clear my throat. Until I looked down and saw the blood. I touched my mouth. My fingers were covered in blood. What is happening?
