The sound replayed in my head over and over. The god awful sound that the arrow made when it hit the flesh. I couldn't breathe my lungs seemed like they have collapsed and my heart was pounding hard.
"DARYL!" I screamed as the tears began to fall like Niagara down my face "DARYL!"
"Riley...Riley honey I'm okay." Daryl said grabbing my shoulders
"I thought I hit you! I'm so sorry!" I said crying even more
"Baby I'm fine!" Daryl said pulling me into a tight hug
"I'm so sorry." I sobbed out as I through my hand around his neck "Don't let me go."
"You saved my life." Daryl told me rubbing his hand up and down my back.
"What do you mean?" I asked him setting me hands on his shoulders as he held me close into his body with his hands on my hips.
"Look" He turned around shining his light on the walker where I shot it in the head with my arrow. "Don't be sorry be happy be proud of your self you saved me." He said as we returned to our previous position in each other's arms
"I'm happy your safe now." I told him
"I'm happy your safe and look you saved me like I saved you." He told me smiling
"Come on guys let's get back to the cell block. We can come back tomorrow with more lights and we can check the outside of it for breaches. We don't want anymore walkers coming in." Rick told us
We all then turned around and walked back to our already cleared out cell block. Daryl and I slung our crossbows around so they hung on our back and we walked with our arms around each other. His arm around my waist and his hand on my hip and my hand around him with my hand in the small of his back.
"OMG are you guys alright we heard gun shots?" Lori asked hugging Rick
"Oh that was Riley saving Daryl's ass." Glen said laughing
"Oh gosh nice job Riley." Olivia said to me high fiving me
"Yeah she shot it blind she shot the arrow in the middle of the dark and she hit it right in the center of the forehead. She saved his life good." Glen said tell them what happened in a short version
"Oo Daryl I think you have a lot of sucking up to do to this little hero." Olivia said winking at me
"He has saved me more times and has taken better care of me than anyone else in my whole life has." I told them all
"Now if you guys would excuse me I'm gonna take the girl of my dreams for a walk." Daryl said pulling me even closer to him
DARYLS POV
I pulled Riley closer to me and walked away from everyone else and up to our cell. I then told her to wait outside and to not look in the cell. She agreed and leaned up against the wall crossed her arms and legs and closed her eyes. After waving my hand in front of her face I walked into our cell and grabbed a back pack. I then stuffed two pillows and two blankets into the bag, zipped it up and put it on my back.
"Okay you can open your eyes now" I told her
"Okay" She said smiling
"Come on I have an idea" I said grabbing her hand and walking back down the stairs to the main level of the cell block.
"Where are we going?" Riley asked
"You'll see" I told her
We then walked out the door and down the hall to our right. I found a stair case in this one room that lead to the roof. I was planning on making a romantic set up so I could make it feel like a date for Riley. She is such a special girl and I don't want her to lose her memories of the world before the biters showed up. I wanted her to hold on to it. So I would do things to help her hold on. After finding the stair case I told her to stay down until I said it was okay. She agreed and I climbed the stairs and opened up the door that lead to the roof. I didn't see any walkers so I stepped outside and on to the roof and made sure the whole roof was still solid and safe. It was so I pulled out the blankets and pillows from the bag and laid down the one blanket on the ground and then placed the pillows beside each other on top of it. Then I laid the blanket down and pulled it down some so you could just pull it up to cover your self up with it. I was proud of my work and then I made a mental note to bring back a couch on my next run. I could bring it up here so it was more comfortable.
"Riley you can come up now." I told her looking down the stairs
"Okay" She said climbing all the way up the stairs until the last step till she was on the roof.
"Okay now close your eyes and follow me" I told her grabbing her hands "Now step up the last step and then follow me I will guide you" she did as I asked and followed me. "Okay open your eyes." I told her
"OMG Daryl it's perfect." Riley said looking at the blankets and then at the stars up above. There wasn't a cloud in the sky it was perfect. " I love it." she said hugging me
"Come one lets lay down." I told her
I laid down first and pulled the blankets close enough to me on the one side so I could cover her up after she laid down. Riley then laid down and laid in the same position as she did in the truck.
"This is perfect." Riley said ending with a moan that signaled that she was enjoying this
"Your perfect." I told her as I kissed her head
We laid there staring at the stars talking and taking in all the beauty. I could die happy right now I thought to my self. Until I realized I couldn't die unless I was with Riley I had to protect her and the only time I was ever happy now and before was when I was with her. I may have loved others in the past but compared to this....compared to what and how I feel about Riley it was nothing. But Riley and I have something special something deep something I will always try and keep. She is my queen she is my life she is all I will ever need.
"Riley...Riley" I whispered waking her up
"Hmmm?" She moaned in response
"Wake up let's go back down to our cell and go to sleep okay." I told her
"No I I wanna stay here with you just us nobody else around just you and me." She answered back
"Okay we can stay." I told her
"Thank you" Riley said
"Your welcome sweet heart. Good night baby girl sweet dreams." I whispered into her hair as I kissed her head.
