Walking down that empty road when I saw you standing there
Yes, I was gonna go up and tell you how much I admired you
And yet how come every time I tried to cross the street to reach you
A car zoomed right by.
And each time I tried to reach you, traffic built up
Each car that blocked my way meant another piece without you
I screamed and I screamed but you never heard me
Because you'd always tuck imaginary earbuds into your ears
The whole street was blocked in cars.
And as the last automobile covered your beautiful face up
I looked at your reflection on the glass window
A long last look at your perfect self that I could never have
Then I sat down in defeat.
And you walked away.
