England, 1962

Lin Na couldn't hide the smile across her lips, covering her mouth to surpass her chuckling.

She leaned against the pillar of the café,  amused as she watched Raven's upper lip curl in disdain at the chirpy woman talking to Charles.

Lin Na walked towards her, one hand balancing the empty tray. She slid to the chair next to her," She seems chatty."

" Too chatty," Raven barked, clenching her jaws as she rolls her eyes.

" He's doing it again isn't he ?" Lin Na sighed at Charles, who was rambling on about his thesis and research to a woman who couldn't care less.

Charles bought her a drink, and together they made a toast," Mutant and proud."

This sent Raven off the edge, and she pressed her hand against the wooden table- making Lin Na jump in surprise.

" That's it, I'm going in there," she growled, and from her seat, Raven marched towards them.

Not long later , Raven and Charles made a hasty escape through the doors of the café, and Raven turned around to bid Lin Na a quick wave of goodbye, Charles following shortly after her - grumbling like a child forced to go to bed early.

She looked down, and she didn't noticed that Raven had slid a five dollar bill under the cup of her half finished tea.

" For once she remembers," Lin Na mused, because this wasn't the first time that Raven's trip to the café had been interrupted by one of her fits against Charles flirting with the wrong girls - or at least, the girls she thinks aren't qualified to date her foster- brother , and to Raven, no one was good enough for him

She passed on the bill to the cashier, and her shift ended afterwards- Raven's had ended an hour before her, they both agreed that Raven's shift should end earlier since she wanted to spend the rest of the night with Charles.

People were starting to filter out of the café - it was getting late by now -and surely they don't want to get caught under the evening rain.

Lin Na hung her apron, and bid the staff a goodnight. During her stroll home, Lin Na's mind drifted to the words that Charles had mentioned.

" Mutant and proud."

She looked at her fingers , and they glinted and rippled like an image. One second they were visible , and the next they vanished.

She softly smiled," Mutant and proud."
