The papers and maps crinkled and straightened as Lin Na languidly dragged her fingers across them. They hung across the wall, beside the window. She watched as it silently collects dust in the corner.
" What's all of this ?" She asked, turning to face Carter who was sitting by the table with Raven. He was cleaning his goggles - Lin Na thought they looked ridiculous slung over his neck.
" Oh, you know, just tracking some people," he shrugged, and he diverted his gaze - not wanting to explain further. Yet Raven pushed on.
" What sort of people?"
He scoffed," Really ? Can't we just let it slide ?"
" Not when I'm here," Raven replied, leaning towards him with her arms crossed against he wooden surface,"Talk."
He looked at Lin Na, eyes pleading for help, yet she mimicked Raven and crossed her arms - gesturing for him to tell them.
Carter raised his hands in surrender,"Fine. I've been tracking mutants."
" If you're lonely, you could've just said so," Raven retorted.
" No, you're up to something," Lin Na approached him, the wooden tiles under her creaking along with her footsteps
" Everyone has a hobby, mine just happens to be identifying and tracking down dangerous mutants," he murmured the last part.
" What ?"Lin Na exclaimed, " That's dangerous , what were you thinking?"
" Look, I've only confronted some of them, only the ones I think I can handle. It turned out okay, I save one city from a rampaging storm wrecker," he defended, rambling on about how he managed to save more people.
" They're only thugs and punks, nothing I can't handle," he innocently smiled.
" You should've let the police do it instead."
Carter scoffed," The police couldn't handle anything like this, I bet even our government can't."
" On the contrary," Raven piqued in," We're actually with the government at the moment. We're recruiting mutants to help us."
" With what ? "
" Fighting other mutants who wants to take over the world," Raven replied, leaning back on her chair.
Carter placed both hands against his head as mouth parted in surprise, " No, fucking way."
