Erik Lehnsherr climbed up the metal steps, eyes roaming around the interior of the dome. A machine stood in the middle , with multiple wires and computers connected to it. The room whirred and beeped, and in the midst of it all stood Hank, fingers dancing across the keyboards.
Charles and Raven approached him, while Erik kept his distance. He could feel another figure approach from behind, and he turned to see a familiar face.
" Morning," she greeted, beaming up at him.
He nodded, " Morning."
Charles stepped onto the machine, and what seemed like a helmet hung above him. Lin Na frowned in worry when Hank starts to strap it down his head.
" Is it safe?" She approached Charles, placing a hand on his shoulder in worry.
" Oh- it's perfectly safe! " Hank laughed breathlessly, running here and there to attach more cables on it.
" We'll use it to track down other mutants. With this , Charles would be able to read the minds of everyone in the city, kind of like a satellite, we call it Cerebro. Pretty cool, don't you think?" Raven patted it, shooting Hank a discreet wink. Red was starting to creep up his cheeks.
Erik rolled his eyes, and Lin Na gently nudged him, surpassing her giggle,"Just be careful, Charles. I remember the last time you tried to read this many minds, it didn't end well."
" You worry about me too much," Charles cooed," I'm flattered."
" Well someone has too ! Apparently Raven isn't enough to stop you from getting into trouble," she shot back, laughing.
After a few moments Erik looked at Charles," Lab Rat."
" I'm not," Charles scoffed.
" I know a lab rat when I see one," he gruffly replied.
The words made Lin Na glance at him worriedly, and she looked down - Charles did tell her something about how Erik had been sent to a ghetto, and she knew what they did to people there.
The machine lit up, and it buzzed to life, humming as the data was processed. Charles slightly shook.Lin Na reached out , yet Erik stopped her,"He's fine. Don't worry."
She pulled back, nodding as she watched him. Then Charles started to laugh " I- I can read their minds ! Ha ! This, this is incredible!"
Lin Na clapped her hands, and the rest cheered. Erik remained silent, yet he gave a soft smile at their success.

" What did Moria say?" Lin Na questioned Charles and Erik as they exited the office.
" She gave us clearance to recruit mutants," Charles grinned.
" That's great ! Where are we going to start ? Oh and I made these-" she showed them the basket she was carrying, and she pulled out a sandwich," This time, try not to dive somewhere after eating them."
Charles snickered," I can't promise you much."
He gladly took the freshly made sandwich, and Lin Na pulled out another , handing it to Erik," You need to eat as well."
Erik looked at it hesitantly, and she urged him," C'mon, you like chicken right ?"
He gave in, taking it," Thank you."
" You and Raven will go together to the suburban areas," Charles said between bites," Me and Erik will go downtown , to the central area."
Lin Na shrugged," Alright, give me the list, and we'll get to it. Becareful, both of you."
" We should be the ones saying that."
" On the contrary, I can protect myself thank you very much Charles, because unlike some people," she emphasized the last phrase," I actually have the common sense to not do anything stupid."
Charles snorted, and Erik watched them in amusement," Shots fired, alright , point taken."
" Charles, come see this ! " Raven walked out of one corridor, beckoning for him to follow her. Charles jogged ahead, leaving Lin Na and Erik alone.
" I did not know you had it in you, kleine Maus." ( little mouse )
" What does that mean?" She shyly looked away, chuckling nervously.
" You should figure that out for yourself ," he hummed.
" Well, I have to remind Charles sometimes- actually all the time, that I'm not the one who needs saving. It's usually him," she fiddled with her fingers.
" How did you two meet?"
She covered her face," Oh, it's embarrassing."
" I was working in the cafe, and I was asking both Charles and Raven for their orders - when out of no where, Raven sneezed. Really, loud. I was stunned, and because of that I vanished," she stifled a laugh.
" I was terrified, I thought they were going to send me to some research facility, I though they would found out that I was - I was," she trailed off.
" Different."
She nodded," Yet oddly enough , Charles didn't yell, he did flinched in shock but the first word he said was 'brilliant '. Before I know it, he was in my head, coaxing me to show myself."
Erik watched her eyes fall towards the floor, and he could see her tugging the edge of her skirt.
She stopped, and he followed.
All of the sudden, Erik slid two fingers under her chin, caressing her jaw in the process as he picked her gaze up from the floor. He towered over her, their noses only inches away," Why is it that you always look down, kleine Maus ?"
He whispered, eyes pining her own.Her body turned rigid when she felt his breath hot against her neck , and she tried to keep her eyes from looking away," I- I, I just do."
" You should look up more. Don't always shy away, besides, " he retreated his fingers, stepping back," It makes it easier for me to look at you."
He gave her a smirk, before walking away to where Charles went, leaving her alone to trail her fingers against her jaw as she listened to the sound of his fading footsteps.
