My Blankie (Ode)

Oh Blankie,
How the times have changed like a road tearing apart.
Yet, not matter what, I still adore you, like the ring on my finger.
As soft as fur, and comfy like a pillow.
You're my personal fighter, like a sword that cuts away my nightmares.
You've dried my tears, like a cloth wiping away a liquid mess.
And accompanied me like a pal should, you've never left me afraid.
When I was punished and sent to my room, like wonders you'd give me.
Glorious and precious, as a gem that's found in a mine.
I'm so glad that you were given to me, or else I think I would've died.
Your presence is like a parade filled with glee, and consumes me with cheer.
My smile never leaves me, when you're here with me.
Those restless nights wouldn't be the same without you.
Nothing can compare the sweet embrace you hold, my Blankie.
I'll love you till the earth bursts, and the sun drains away.
My one and only Blankie, and though people may laugh, let them be mean.
Oh, don't they know that you really do come alive,
My only Blankie, as pure as my heart.

I'm not ashamed that I wrote about my childhood blanket. No shame at all! I love you Blankie!!

Odes use similes, metaphors and sometimes a technique called hyperbole. You guys should try it. Hope to read some of your poems in the comments. :)
