As the ground shook Tallen cleared her thoughts, the guards had blinded her with cloth, but hadn’t removed her clothing, if she could, she’d be able to reach the dull knife in her boot. Pulling her legs up to her chest she slid her right leg around and under her hand fumbling for a moment to long. Almost missing the feeling of an arrow flying by. With a yelp and a loud thud she realized that one wolf had fallen, but judging by the more furious snarl and rushed running there were more to come. With a slip of the foot, and a back breaker sitting position, the redhead managed to get a hold of the blade and easily cut the binds. rising to her feet she slid instantly into my best fighting position, relying on instinct rather than sight, as her older brother had taught her before going to war.
with a quick swipe to the left she felt the weapon scathe a face and with a jab one quickly fell whimpering. so caught up in the battle her skilled hands hand engaged in she almost screamed when someone pulled her back. Throwing off the crude blindfold Tallen met the bewildered eyes of a boy her age, “What are you doing? Climb!” He barked drawing Tallen back to her senses as she grabbed onto a branch and started ascending the tall oak the tall.
It was a few deep breaths and creepy howls later before he emerged wearing unusual clothing for the tundra, a leather jacket with a beanie covering his blonde head and dark sunglasses hanging from his shirt. “Who are you?” She asked looking at him suspiciously, this was the desolate landscape no one could last an hour with those clothes.
“I think we both know its dangerous to utter names here. Seeing as I just saved you its likely to say you did something you shouldn’t have in camp right?” His cockiness bothered her, just because he saved her didn’t mean he can just turn the tables,
‘good thing two can play the game of cat and mouse’ she thought smirking.
“Seeing as I slayed two wolves its quite clear I can care for myself and I’m sure you and I both know our business is our own.” She replied icily looking over her shoulder, five huge beasts let let the snow run red, if she was quick enough she could get fur for clothing and meat.
“Look I was just trying to help,” He muttered leaning back and smiling at her humoressly.
“And I said I don’t need it,” She shot back snarkily wiping the grin off his face with a smirk of her own. “On second though screw it, wheres the nearest place I could stay?” she asked through slitted eyes.
In the moonlight his eyes sparkled as he agreed to take her to the safe shelter. only to stupidly had she turned her back to him and only momentairly felt the sting of his spear as he knocked her out. As he carried her ten miles as the crow flies to a small encampment under a lookout she dreamed sleepily of her romeo and would twich whenever dark thoughts pierced her wanton dreams.
Sunlight gleamed against her body leaving her warm and compfy as she snuggled deeper into the blanket.for a moment it was pure bliss until her emerald green eyes flew open, they didn’t have warm fuzzy blankets at camp. shooting up Tallen found herself in a tent, the hard ground littered and cramed with blankets of fur. as her eyes caught sight of smooth slightly tanned skin, she grinned evilly snuggling closer to her captor, until with glee she stuck her tongue out and licked his shoulder. With a jerk the boy stood up wide eyed and spooked as hell.
“Morning Scardy Cat,” She smiled laying down and admiring the view. his flat stomach composed of lean muscles with this spider-like scars etched into them. frowning slightly he slumped forward back under the blankets grumbling.his eyes sparkled slightly in the light, a beautiful golden brown. Leaning back she supported herself on her hands, “So why am I here?” she asked curiously gathering some blankets around her exposed shoulders.
“Because you asked to stay in a safe place, what did you expect? few buildings survived the blasts and the tundra’s no use to anyone anymore. besides of course the camps.” the last part he said with a huff avoiding her eyes.
“So we’re litterally in the middle of no where?” she asked looking around the feeling of being alone slowly sinking in. combing one hand through her long spiraled curls she tuned out any unwanted dark thoughts, she couldn't expose any fear infront of this stranger.
“Those who speak in tongue’s unknown are well hidden from this world, only I know the safest route to the nearest city.” He smiled proudly placing his hands under his head closing his eyes.
“Well I’m glad to hear it, cause I need to leave, now.” Her voice shook despite her feeble attempt to stay strong. Eyeing the spear a few feet away it was easy to grab it without the boy noticing.
Looking slightly surprised at her demand he shook his head, “Nah I can take you in a few days when the-” with a small thump the spear left his voice to die on his tongue and his body loosen.
‘If only I had a few days to spare’ She thought sadly grabbing her pile of clothes and hastily throwing them on. rummaging around she stuffed what little food she could find and some small blankets into her pack. Crawling out of the door Tallen breathed in the fresh air, sighing as the wind left a sting on her cheeks. stepping forward and throwing the pack over her shoulder, The stranger may think he know’s the safest way to the nearest city but he didn’t know her, and Tallen was as determined as ever to make sure that she hadn’t dropped her promise.
Closing her eyes she started walking in whatever direction she hoped was the right one.
