Morning broke through the window, and Jamie was no where to be found. grumbling at her slamming headache Tallen rolled out of bed crawling her way to the bathroom. within minute slast nights food was flushed down the toilet, wiping her mouth with half-dirty towel she stood up looking in the mirror. slightly pale her green eyes stared back at her lacking emotion, when was she ever going to be happy? Tallen didn’t know, and didn’t really care as she grabbed the glock resting on the bedside table and looked out the window.

with a loud crash outside she flinched, hating the way the sound invade her silent thought bubble. watching the sun rise above the broken and desolate building tops Tallen wondered if her mother and brothers were okay, where ever they were. opening the window she breathed in fresh air, relishing the cleansing affect it had on her heated skin. slipping one foot out she made sure the fire escape could hold her escape before she made her way toward the ladder that led to the second floor.

half way down a gunshot made tallen freeze, her entire body tense as she leaned close to the rusty ladder. within seconds a small girl ran into the alley way beneath Tallen, closely followed by three huge thugs. clothed in dark navy blue uniforms they held their guns locked on the little girl. slipping the last few ranks Tallen watched from the second floor as they cornered the now familiar girl, Andie.

In panic Tallen drew her gun firing just above their heads and automatically drawing all the attention to herself. “Hey assholes I’d suggest you beat it, or else I won’t miss next time.” She growled taking no real notice that she had nothing to hide behind.

“Hey there beautiful, no need to shoot we just want to talk.” the one smiled walking forward. keeping his gun held lose in one hand he stalked forward, cocky as ever. raising an eyebrow she shot a foot away from his next step, “Beat it.”

within seconds he aimed at her and shot, ignoring the skim of the bullet she returned fire bringing him to his knee’s as she nailed his knee. turning to the others she fired twice more right above them, gaining their attention back from Andie. turning around to see their leader on the ground the larger, darker skinned, shot wildely in her direction.

as a boom echoed through the alley Tallen ducked, only to realize out of the corner of her eye that Konner stood shotgun aimed at the two thugs. the wild shot was quickly draining blood onto the dirty concrete ground, eyeing his friends the third raised his arms.

“Please sir we’re here on buisness terms.”

“I can see that,” Konner shot back.

“You know you could help the CSW, and yourself by dropping your weapon.” Tallen silently wished he hadn’t grown cocky. despite being a government official this wasn’t his turf.

“No I don’t think I will, now listen to this young lady and get your ass out of here.” Konner motioned with his head toward the open street. The man’ eyes flickered over to Tallens, and for the briefest moment she detected uncertainty.

“What’s your name?”

“corprol John S. Lee.” he stated imidiately taking a stance both hands tucked behind him chin raised.

training her gun on him Tallen smiled nodding to the now standing Andie, “Listen here corprol after we’re done here you’re going to crawl back to the government. You’re going to tell you’re boss that if he ever comes back to this city again he’ll be dead before he can blink. as dead, infact, as you’re buddies there.” she waited long enough to make sure he seen his friends bloodied on the floor choking on their own blood. “You’re going to forget you ever seen us, you’ll forget you’ve ever been in this alley. oh and John always remember if you ever grow cocky we can always opt to cut you’re beautiful tougne out.” with a shot she nailed him in the skin making him double over and fall to the ground in pain.

Nodding to an eager looking Andie, the little girl jumped and slammed her baton against the back of his skull. Grinning at Konner she climbed up onto the fire escape. Giving her a tight hug Konner looked up locking his eyes on Tallens and nodding his thanks. smiling slightly she stowed her gun and moved to get down on the ground.

Grimacing at the putrid smell of blood mixing with garbage, Tallen grabbed the colars of the two dead guys and began dragging them out into the street. stripping them of their uniforms she layered some newpaper over their slumped forms. going through their pockets Tallen smiled as she came apon a notepad, scribbling out a quick message to the CSW she stuffed it back in the corprols coat pocket before pulling him to sit next to the two dead men.

Looking around at the now entirely lit city Tallens’ eyes rested on a familiar form, Jamie. starting towards him she caught a glimsp of the person with him. long platnium blonde hair flowed down her side as she leaned into his side. they were smiling laughing slightly at some shared joke.

shattered Tallen turned feeling her world spin slightly, shaking her head she started to turn around when Jamie noticed and called her over. against her wishes she walked slowly dragging each step ‘til she stood beside them.

“Hi,” she mumbled avoiding eyecontact.

the girl was alot older than Tallen had thought, with laugh lines etched into her tan california skin. “Hi I’m Evie.” she smiled. Tallen just nodded blankly still avoiding eyecontact.

“yeah well I-I have to go,” Tallen turned again trying to absently walk away as tears built up.

“hey wait! Tal, Evie just told me about the club they work downstairs. Sounds like the kind of place you’ve been looking for.” Jamie piped up reaching forward to grab her arm. when she finally raised her eyes, Jamies were filled with worry his eyebrows nit together.

“Thanks but I’m not in the mood really,” she mumbled trying to get a grip as her mind blanked.

“I really think you should, maybe it’ll help-”

“With what?” Tallen barked ripping her arm out of his grasp her temper rising, “Erasing the last memories of my mom, or with forgetting this world entirely? Don’t you dare try and turn this into a pity fest. my mom died so did my brothers oh-fucking-well. I’ll survive just like I did before. Now if you’ll excuse I really do have a life, so go have fun with her asshole.” backing up she glared at a shocked looking Jamie before stalking angrily across the street. only when she had made her way safely up the fire escape and into her room did she finally collasp on the bed tears spilling.
