Days passed, Konner eventually had enough strength to stand up with the aid of a cane and Noah scarcely let Tallen out of his sight and she pretended not to notice. but something itched under her skin, she hated staying cooped up around the house. tying her hair back Tallen slid out of bed for the third time that week. avoiding the old and broken floor boards she made her way to the door, grabbing her hunting knifes and semi-automatic pistol.

the night air raised goosebumps along her arms, she had shed the trench coat and long sleeve shirt for a loose v-neck tee. assessing the area Tallen fell into a sprint only sparing one look at the broken cottage.

Smiling at seeing Blue’s silver pelt shimmering as the mutt fell into step beside her Tallen leaped, clearing a fallen tree and rolling smoothly into a crouch.wiping the mud from her cheek Tallen calmed her breathing taking in the blackened forrest. the mutts whine interrupted her thoughts and she shook her dark thoughts away. looking over at Blue’s glinting eyes she smiled.

“I’ll be back Blue go back, kay? Back.” the wolf whined bowing its head and looking at her again with sad eyes. “Blue go Back!” Tallen hissed as she heaved herself onto the first branch of the tree beside her. reluctant the giant dog turned throwing Tallen a pained look before trotting back over the fallen tree.

scaling the oak was easy, and once seated close to its crown Tallen marveled at the sight. the world looked dead, miles and miles of nothing but night, she could just make out where the horizon stopped and sky started. yawning the redhead glanced toward the east almost making out the tell tale signs of the sunrise.

Closing her eyes she smiled, the past few days had been heaven compared to the rest of her life, if only Noah would finally tell her how he felt. they had been battle practicing and Tallen chuckled at the thought when Noah had to take a break because he couldn’t keep up with her.

A lone howl broke her moment instantly grabbing her attention. watching her footing Tallen let herself drop the last five feet ignoring the stinging pain in her foot as she threw herself over the fallen trunk. Blue’s call wasn’t on accident, and as she neared Tallen could smell the faint trace of burning wood. Mind racing she released the safety and swung the knife skillfully in her other hand. as she approached the clearing that surrounded the cottage Tallen cursed recognizing Tyler’s form amongst the mass of men.

“She isn’t here, ran off last night.” Noah’s familiar voice barked from the doorway, Tallen dismissed the slight hunch of his sore body and instead slid forward so she lay crouching in the shadows.

“Is that so? then you won’t mind lowering your weapon and letting us search your house.” the man beside Tyler grinned evilly.

“Stay back.” Konner’s voice snapped as the barrel of his rifle pointed down toward the man.

“Very well, boy’s burn the place.” The man smiled watching as a five men opened up to reveal a large burning torch. Tyler took the gasoline jug the older man handed him and smirked as he threw it toward the house. as the thick liquid guzzled seeping into the ground Tallen hissed, ‘Go to hell Tyler’ she thought as she waited patiently to see what happened next.

as the men threw the branch forward Noah let out a growl raising his shotgun and taking aim taking two men and injuring the third. Konner appeared beside him clutching the AK-47 they had found abandoned in the woods the day before. as fire hit flame the dove for cover leaving Tyler and the evil man alone with Konner and Noah.

“Sir we found someone!” came a yell from Tallen’s left, a tall solider stepped from the shadows hand firmly clamped on Andie’s blonde hair.

“Let go of me!” she screamed thrashing under his grip making the man laugh. Konner could barely contain the rage and it took all of Noah’s strength to keep him from launching himself at the solider.
