A Good Kind of Change

What A Day

We take our seats in front of Mr. Carlson and introduce ourselves.

"So Ms. Chandler, lets go over the minor details of your new job again. So you are new you will just be interviewing the San Francisco Giants players and the opposing team players during home games during baseball season, and the San Francisco 49ers players and the opposing team players during football season. How does that sound?"

"That sounds great. Thank you so much for giving me a chance" I say happily.

"I know you will be a fantastic addition to ESPN. You have worked so hard and now it's paying off. Congratulations Shanya." he says sincerely.

We go over all of the details and every little thing that comes along with my new job. After everything is settled and contracts are signed, I lean back into the chair content.

"I expect you here 10 in the morning Monday through Friday until 3 pm. Weekends and holidays are free unless there is a game going on. Are we good on that?"

"Yes sir." I reply

"We went over all of the other boring details back in May so you should be fine. Just remember to be here 10 a.m. sharp Monday morning in three weeks and things should fall into place. Your office will be two doors down from here on the left. Everything is already set up for you. Be sure to check your email often, and if you're needed anywhere someone will let you know."

"Alright thank you so much Mr. Carlson!" I reply giddily.

"See you in three weeks Miss Shanya"

We shake hands and Alyssa and I leave the building in a good mood. We notice that the sexy car is gone and we pout at the spot and hop into my car to get some food.

After that bomb In-N-Out food, Alyssa and I are chilling in my living room talking about random stuff when her boyfriend calls. She smiles at her phone and then I realized I needed to call Colin. I go to my room and lay on my bed dialing his number. I can't believe I'm doing this.

"Hello?" he answers. I swoon just a little bit.

"Hey Colin, it's Shanya." I say shyly into the phone.

"Hey Miss Shanya. How are you?" Colin asks all sexily.

"I'm fine. How are you?" I say quietly

"I didn't ask how you look Carolina and I'm doing good. Better actually now that I'm talking to you." He says sweetly

"Colin stop making me blush."

"Aww how cute. So how long have you been in the Bay?"

"Around 10 hours now."

"Wow so have you enjoyed yourself so far?"

"Yes I have actually. I got my job details all settled and I may have met my crush today" I say sneakily.

"Oh your crush huh? Who might that be?"

"Oh you know. The gorgeous brown eyed quarterback for the Niners." I say nonchalantly

"Me?" He asks happily

"Yes you Colin." I say embarrassed. I can't believe I just did that. I cannot deal right now. I just told Colin Kaepernick I have a crush on him. Can I die now?

"Awww you have a crush on me that is so cute. That just made my day even better" he said sincerely.

"Yeah yeaaah. Forget I said that. My filter is gone."

"Nope. But it's okay because when I first saw you I just had to get to know you. It was just something about you that was different. A good kind of different. You give off a genuine vibe and I like that. I don't really feel that from other people at all."

"Glad to know that."

"Haha yeah you got me hooked already. I couldn't stop thinking about you after I saw you in the mall."

"Oh forreal? Got you hooked? Better stay that way." I fire back

"Oh trust me Carolina it will."

We talk on the phone for about three more hours getting to know each other and just random stuff. It is actually very easy to talk to him. The conversation just flows effortlessly. We tell each other goodnight and Alyssa comes in my room with a smirk.

"You talked to Colin?" she asks.

"Yes I did. We had a good conversation." I say happily.

"Uh oh homegirl got a man."

"Not even. I don't even know how long this will last. But I'm going to make the best of it."

"I just don't want you to get hurt." Alyssa says.

"I know..."

"I love you to death Shanya, I do. But i know you fall so easily and I know you still haven't fully got over him. I just want you to think and fall for his actions and not just his looks."

I sigh. "I know Alyssa. I'm not even thinking about a relationship right now. But I might as well have fun."

"Just be careful. All he wants is a piece of ass. He has to be nice, say all of the right things, so he can sleep with you and leave the next morning"

"Not if I leave first."

"Shut the hell up. I'm just saying. Be careful."

We get comfortable in my bed and before I could knock out my phone beeped. It was a text from Colin.

Goodnight lil' lady. I'll call you tomorrow. Sleep well. :)

I grin and reply goodnight Colin.

I silence my phone and throw it on my nightstand.

Wow what a day, I say to myself. I go to sleep with what Aly said swimming around in my head.
