Ch:23 Team Work

I slowly got up and grabbed my I.V. bag. I walked over to the window and saw people at the wood line. They were trying to take over our camp. Rick screamed "well we are not giving up this camp". One guy screamec "fine, this is for you".

A biggest trunk ever pulled up and the back started to rise. About 50 walkers came falling out. The guys left and the dump truck sped away. Everybody started to shoot. I heard people say "we have to leave". Others said "but we cant leave Glenn and Shelby". Someone shouted "we will come back for them". I said "no". Glenn asked "whats going on"? I said "there are walkers all over the place, the groups gonna leave us behind".

He stood up and said "we have to go with them". I walked over to him and stopped him from falling over. I said "we will find them, but we need to get ready first". Just as I went to take him back to the bed I heard the door bust open. Walkers flooded the bottom floor and were coming up the stairs. I said "my crossbow and all my things are in the house I was staying in. If we can get to it we should be ok". He said "ok, we need to find a way out of here". I grabbed Glenn's arm and pulled out the I.V. I did the same to mine and our arms started to bleed. I grabbed 2 bandaids and put then on our arms so they would stop bleeding. I said "my crossbow and knives are in the other house, if we can get to them then we should be safe".

I said "the only way out is through the window". Glenn grabbed his knife and said "lets go". We slowly walked over to the window and tried to open it. But we were to weak, we couldnt do it. I looked around the room and grabbed a vase. Walkerrs beated on the door and it was about to give in. I walked fastly back over to the window and hit the vase into the window. The window shattered so we began to crawl out. The door busted and Glenn was slowly craweling out the window. I was still in the room so I started to scream "Glenn hurry". He slipped and rolled off of the room. I quickly climbed out of the window and I jumped off of the roof.

I ran over to Glenn and asked "are you ok". He groaned and said "I cant breathe". I said "we have to go". I put his arm around my neck and I slid my arm under his. I helped him up and we limped over to the other house. Walkers saw us and ran over. I said "I know it's going to be hard, but we have to run Glenn". He said "ok". We picked up our speed and ran over to the house I was staying in.

I said "ok, we need to go in alone, stay here". I helped him sit down behind an air vent. He couldnt be seen so I think he will be ok. I told myself "you are strong and you will get Glenn and yourself out here safely". I ran to the front of the house and opened the door. Walkers chased me as I went up the steps. I slipped and a walker grabbed my ankle. He pulled his leg towards him mouth. I kicked his face and he let go. I got back up and ran to my room.

I put on my clothes that I always wore before this place. I grabbed my crossbow and put my boots on. The knifves were in there so I knew I had 2 back up weapons. I looked in the mirror and seen myself. I was pale and I was sweating really badly. I got hot and blacked out for a few seconds. After I came   back to realtiy I opened the window in my room and I crawled out.

I jumped down again and Glenn weakly crawled out from the vent. I put my hand around him again to support him. I said "ok, lets go to the woods". Glenn asked "where did they go"? I said "we will circle around". He said "ok, lets get going". We ran towards the woods and stayed by the tree line. It took us 20 minutes just to make the circle around the woods.

After we were heading in the direction that the group went in I said "wait here". I walked over to a tree and broke off a thick tree limb. I took off the leaves and walked back over to Glenn. I handed it to him and said "here, use it as a walking stick". He smiled and said "thank you". I took my crossbow off of my back and I loaded an arrow. I said "ok, lets go, we need to find them". I walked infront of him to clear the area.

I said "coast is clear, cmon". He hobbled his way over to me and he was out of breath. He said "just leave me here, Ill just slow you down". I said "I'm not leaving you". I walked forward and he followed me. A few walkers were on the road infront of us so I ran towards them and I killed them with my knife.

Glenn slowly walked over again and fell to the floor. He started to puke up more blood. I ran over and kneeled down beside him. I rubbed his back and I said "let it all out". I felt bad because he was in really bad shape. I was ok for now, but that could easily change. After Glenn finished puking he got up and walked faster. I said "take your time and be careful". He said "I'm good". Just then a walker came out and attacked him.

I ran over and put a knife in it's head. I helped Glenn up and asked "are you bit"? He said "no, just sick". I smiled and said "me too". As we walked along the road more Glenn slowed down to catch his breath. I walked over and he screamed "look out". A walked grabbed me and threw me to the ground. Glenn took out his knife and stuck it into the walkers head. I pushed the walker off of me and I said "thanks". He said "no problem".

After he said that he fell to the floor and passed out. I tried to wake him up, but he was out cold. I put my arms under his and I started to drag him. My hands slipped and I let him go. I tightened the strap of my crossbow so it wouldnt fall off.  I said "ok Shelby, you got this". I grabbed him again and started to pull him.

I didnt let go, instead I held onto him for dear life. I got dizzy and I slowed down. I looked in the distance and seen a herd of walkers walking towards us. Glenn was still passed out so I turned around and dragged him the way we came from. My head started to pound and the scenery started to spin. I said "Daryl, Rick, Carl I love you all, so much". I let go of Glenn and I blacked out again. Only this time I didnt wake up. Instead I passed out like Glenn did.

I heard the moans and groans of the walkers so I knew this was the end.
