Ch:21 Pain

Glenn wrapped his hand around the base of the knife and pulled the knife out. I screamed in pain so I clenched my jaw so I didnt attract any walkers. As soon as the knife was out he quickly stuck the bandage over the wound. The pain slowly went away so I calmed down. I asked "can you hand me the knife"? He held it out so I grabbed it. I stuck it back in my boot as Glenn said "wow, I'm amazed at how you handle pain, you are a tough girl". I smiled and said "thanks for the help".

I looked up and said "ummm, Glenn we have company". He looked where I was looking and said "god dammit". I grabbed my crossbow and pointed my head at the small horde of walkers. I was about to get up and fight them, but Glenn said "dont waste your arrows. Let me get them, so stay here and sit down" I said "you cant take on 10 of them by yourself".

I quickly grabbed my knives and walked over to the walkers. Each step I took made my side burn and sting. I held my fist over the bandage and let out a breath. I said "suck it up you pussy". I ran over to them and got half of them out within seconds. They were weak so it was easier to kill them. Glenn came over and killed the rest. I sat down and took in a few deep breaths.

Glenn asked "you ok"? I said "peachy". He smiled then said "we need to climb back up the hill. I said "no, look over there". There were footprints in the mud. He said "those could be from walkers". I said "not the way they are moving, just trust me". He said "ok, I trust you and saw some spots of blood on the ground from my wound. I looked at the bandage and there was a dark red spot coming through. I said "we need more bandaids". He said "I have another one, but we will change your bandage when we have too".

I flung my crossbow on my back and tightened the strap. I said "let's go" as we walked towards the other footprints. Glenn asked "do you think everyone is ok"? I said "it's hard to tell, but I know that they all came this way". I thought to myself "I hope Rick, Daryl, and Carl are safe and ok".

As we walked my wound started to numb. I asked Glenn "is it ok for my side to be numb". He said "maybe we should rest for awhile". I said "no, we need to keep going". He said "you are a trooper". I said "yeah, but I get hurt a lot". He laughed a bit and said "I never thanked you for saving me back there". I smiled and said "well I feel like thats my job in the group. I am the protecter and I am the one to end the suffering of the group members". Glenn asked "you sure you want to keep going"? I smiled and said "yes I'm sure".

After we walked for awhile I looked up at the sky and realized that it was getting dark. I said "Glenn, we need to keep going, the group will likely rest for the night, so that will give us the chance to catch up with them faster". He said "smart thinking, but you dont look so good". I wiped the sweat off of my forehead. I said "I'm a bit hot, thats all". He said "I think your running a fever, we need to get the fever down".

I asked "how"? He said "well you need to stop and rest". I kept walking and said "I'll rest when I know that everyone else is ok". Glenn walked up to me and said "ok. hop on". I asked "hop on what"? He said "I'll piggyback you for a while". I laughed a bit and said "you are just getting better, I will be fine, dont worry about me".

Glenn walked infront of me to protect me. I felt tired and dizzy. I said in a slur "Glenn, wait up". I fell to the ground and passed out.
