Ch:29 Rescue

I walked in with my gun pointed infront of me. Carl came in behind me and walked infront of me. We walked down the hall stepping on paper, wrappers, and pools of blood. Carl asked "where should we look"? I said "well if you took at the trash on the ground you can see 3 sets of footsteps going straight".

I walked infornt of Carl and told him "stay behind me". I heard walker moans so I clicked the safety off of my gun. I turned around a corn and walkers were scrathing at a closed door. I whispered "they must be in there". Carl clicked the safety off of his gun and said "ready when you are". I aimed my gun at the walkers heads and I pulled the trigger. They turned around and started to run towards us. I stopped conserving ammo and I held in the trigger of the machiene gun.

I aimed at their heads and they all dropped to the ground. Carl did the same thing that I did and we had the horde down on the ground in a few minutes. I walked forward and stepped over the dead pile of walkers. When I walked up to the door I took the metal pipe out of the handles on the door.

I looked back at Carl and I said "get ready". I opened the door and ran in. I looked around and sighed because it just lead to another long hallway. I told Carl "check these rooms, I'm going further ahead". H egrabbed my hand and said "be careful". I smiled and said "always am". Carl handed me another full clip of bullets for when I run out.

He went into the rooms and started to look around. While I walked ahead I heard a voice coming from one of the rooms. I walked inside and Glenn was under the hospital bed. I ran over to his and asked "where is Daryl and Rick"? He said "well walkers were chasing us so Daryl put me in here until they got back, they went further up the hall and went out an exit. I said "cmon, we need to find them".

Glenn crawled out from under the bed and we ran out into the hallway again. I screamed "Carl, over here". He ran out of the room and ran with us out the exit. In the distance I seen Daryl and Rick ontop of this bus trying to kill the huge horde of walkers. I smiled and said to Carl "give Glenn a gun, and get ready".

We took aim at the walkers heads and we opened fire. Daryl and Rick looked at us as we blasted there heads. I smiled as all the walkers fell to the ground. There were so many of them. They were running at us, but we stood our ground. I kneeled down and aimed at their heads. When there was one more I said "wait, dont shoot".

I walked up to it and knifed it in eye. I an over to the bus as they jumped down. I hugged them both and Daryl said "I knew you would find us". I smiled and quickly kissed him on the lips. It was a sisterly kiss. I helped them up and he squeezed me tightly. I picked up his heavy crossbow and said "dont forget this".

Rick asked "how did you find us"? I smiled and said "I know how to track". Daryl said "nice guns, where did you get them at"? I said "I found a truck and I got attacked my a walker. Right before it could bite me Carl was there and he killed it. Then we looked in the back of the army truck and found all of these guns and ammunition".

Carl ran over to Rick and gave him a huge hug. Carl said "I was worried about you dad". Rick kissed his head and said "it's ok, I'm here". Glenn walked over to us and gave Rick a hug. He said "man, I thought you 2 were gonners". Daryl said "we're not thanks to Shelby". I said "Carl too". I asked "did you guys find anything"? Daryl said "we filled a backpack full of medical supplies, but we dropped in outside on a roof".

I asked "did it fall off"? Rick said "no, it got stuck on a piece of wire". I said "well I'll get it". I ran to the stair case and they all followed. I walked up the stairs then Glenn started to scream. I looked back and Rick and Daryl were grabbing Glenn's hands. Walkers were grabbing his legs. I slid down the railing with my gun aimed.

Mid slide I shot them in the head. I brought Glenn's legs in and I shut the door. Everybody was breathing heavily. My heart was pounding because I thought we were gonna lose him. I pulled up his pant legs and checked for bites. There were none so I said "clear". I ran up the steps and burst out of the door that lead to the roof.

I looked at Daryl and asked "where is it"? He said "across there" and pointed to a board plank. There was this huge plank set up to make a bridge across the rooves. There were walkers on the other side, but I saw the backpack. It was hanging on a wire by the strap. I took off the bag of guns and handed it to Daryl. He swung it around his back and tightened the strap.

I said "I'll get it". Daryl put a hand on my shoulder and he said "you be careful". I smiled and said "always am". Carl gave me a kiss and said "come back safely". I smiled and walked over to the plank. I asked "so you 3 crossed this thing"? Rick said "yeah". I put a foot on the wood and I pushed on it to test the weight. So far so good. I put my other foot on the board and slid my feet across the board. When I was halfway across I looked down and I froze.

I tightened the strap of my crossbow as tight as it could go so it didnt slip off making me loose my balance. My hands shook as I held onto the gun. I took my hand off of the trigger so I didnt accidently pull it. I looked back and gave them a thumbs up. Daryl had a look of worry on his face. Carl stood on the edge of the roof watching me.

I got down on my knee's and started to crawl across. As I got closer and closer to the bag the walkers on the roof walked over to me. I said to myself "they cant get up here, they would need a boost". My legs shook and my heart beat fast the next time I looked down.

There were walkers forming below and I said "at least the fall would be the thing to kill me". I scooted my knee's across the board until I finally was close enought to the backpack. I reached out to grab it, but I came up short. I scooted farther up then tried again. My arms were still too short to grab it. I reached out further and lightly tapped the strap. The backpack fell off of the wire, but I caught it just in time. I looked back at them and smiled. I said "that was close".

The board snapped in half and it sent me falling over 50 feet to the ground. But I didnt hit the ground, I landed in a dumpster. They were all screaming my name and they were peering over the edge. Walkeds were closing in so they said "hang on, we're coming to get you". They bolted away from the roof and I could hear the door slam shut behind them. I aimed my gun at the walker's heads and I opened fire.

One by one the walkers fell down, but I wasnt putting a dent in the number of them coming towards me. I heard doors slam shut a few yards away so I knew they were close. Then all of a sudden Daryl, Rick, Carl, and Glenn had machiene guns in their hands. They were taking down the walkers much faster than I was. I opened fire on them again and helped them take down the walkers racing towards us.

I screamed "Glenn behind you". Glenn turned around and got tackled by a walker. Then more came from behind them and they were all getting attacked. I jumped off of the dumpster and I pushed past walkers to get to them. Once I was close to them I took out my knife and I stabbed the ones tackling Daryl and Carl first. Then I went for the one attacking Rick. Daryl got the walker on Glenn. I asked them "did anyone get bit"? They shook there heads.

I was upset because I forgot to grab the backpack, but when I looked down I had it in my hand. My knuckled turned whte because I had a death grip on it. I swung it on my back and I said "cmon, lets get out of here".
