Chapter Sixteen: Maple
Brody's mom was actually nice. Not that I was surprised. Just that I wasn't entirely sure. She had tried to take over the world, after all. When Brody introduced me, I was really nervous. Who wouldn't be? I was meeting my truelove's mom! Not to mention: she's been "dead" for years!
When we followed them to the grocery store, they had a beautiful little cliché scene going on. You know. Where the girl drops her stuff, then the guy picks it up. Then they talk and get coffee. So cliché. Kind of sad...
Brody and just stood and watched. I knew he was trying not to laugh, and so was I. It hilarious! I was watching someone who used to be evil, and someone who was an unheard of creature! After a while, Brody and I went back to the mansion and just talked and raced around the backyard, and I always won.
We were inside when Brody's mom came back. She asked to talk to Brody, and they both went outside. I stayed where I was, in the empty dining room, but I could still hear them talking. Brooke was going back to Maryland, and she could only visit Brody sometimes.
My heart broke for both of them. I knew how hard it was to not have your parents. I know that he hates his dad, but that doesn't matter. He still needed his mom. Mom's are always there. When you go through a break up, or cant find something to wear, or whatever normal teenage girls have to go through. I've never dated, or cared what I look like. But, my mom was there for me when I couldn't change back into a human. She stayed with me until I was sure I was ok.
Brody walked back in, and told me that his mom had to leave.
"I'm sorry." I said. Even though I heard the whole thing, I wanted him to feel like I wouldn't hear everything he says within a two mile radius of me.
"My dad is now a werefox." He told me. I said how bad I felt for him then we both went upstairs and got ready to go to sleep. I went to my attic/room and started getting ready for bed when I realized, I can go listen to Brody and what he really thinks of his mom. I could tell he wasn't that upset. It was the look in his eyes.
I crept down the stairs and to the door of Duke, Walter, and Brody's room. I sat down, leaning against the wall, and listened.
"So, I hear your mom is alive?" A voice asked. Duke.
"Yeah. Tell us about her." A voice I didn't really recognize. Walter.
"Not much to say. I mean, she's alive. What else do I need to know?" a voice I would never forget. Brody.
"Well, she is your mom. You should know stuff like her favorite music and color and flower and all that." Duke said.
"Beegees, purple, and white tulips." Brody told them, "Unless she's a completely different person, that's a few things I know about her."
"Why don't you want to tell us anything?" Walter asked. I started to feel tired.
"Because," Brody started. After a pause, he continued, "I..." but I fell asleep. I guess I would find out what he thought about his mom later.

"Maple?" Someone asked. I opened my eyes to find a boy with brown hair standing above me. It took a few minutes, but I recognized him as Walter. "What are you doing?"
"Being woken up." I replied, sarcastically. Even the first second I woke up, I was a sarcastic (insert curse word here).
"I mean, why are you sleeping outside our room?"
"'Cause Brody is my true love and I wasn't feeling good last night so I wanted to be near him. I would normally find my brother, but I'm mad at him." Apparently Red had come down from our attic to sleep on the floor, with me. I started petting him and I got up. "I feel better now though. Nothin' like a nice rest on the hard wood floor!" I smiled. I turned to go back to my attic, but not before Walter mumbled something about 'girls are the weirdest species on earth' and I quietly said, "You have no idea." Too quiet for him to hear.
I went back to my room and fed Red. I got dressed and went downstairs. "Delbert, did you get donuts?" I asked. it was a Saturday, so that meant DONUTS!
"No." Delbert said, sarcastically.
"Yay!" I got a sprinkled donut and walked outside. I sat in the driveway, yes the driveway I was told not to sit in, and thought. When I finished my donut, I went inside and got my laptop. I went back outside and wandered through the woods until I found my tree house. I climbed up the ladder and sat down on the old mattress. I crossed my legs and put the laptop down and started typing.
Most Cliché Story. Ever. I typed in the search bar in Microsoft Word. It found the document and I double clicked it. I started typing and sat in my tree house for hours just writing a story. At some point, I realized that I had written ten chapters and it was sunset. I went back to the mansion and made myself dinner, just like a normal night. When I was sitting in the, always empty, dining room. When I was about to go into the kitchen, Jason burst in, and said,
"We're being attacked."
