Chapter Fifteen: Brody
"Hi. I'm Brooke, Brody's mom." She said.
"I thought so. You kind of look alike." Maple said, "Ok. No, you don't. I'm sorry." We all laughed. My mom laughed too. I just stood there and smiled. My mom was alive! She looked just like she used to. "You two probably want to catch up on well...everything. I'll be in my room if either of you needs anything." Maple turned to go.
"Wait." I stopped her. "Mom, Maple is a few things that you should know, but dad shouldn't. She is the daughter of Sarah and Gavin, you know. Dad's enemies." My mom gasped. I knew that she wouldn't be mad or try to hurt Maple. My dad would've killed her though.
"I'm so sorry for what I did to your parents. Especially your mom. I never really did anything to your dad." She apologized to Maple.
"It's fine. You weren't the one hurting all those people on purpose. It was your husband." Maple smiled, sadly.
"Ok. And, Maple is also...how do I put this?" I wondered, out loud. "She's my true love or mate or whatever you want to call it. But, one day, she will be your daughter in law." I said. I knew my mom would be happy. She always wanted a daughter, but I was an only child and before she could have a daughter, she was "killed"
She hugged Maple and smiled bigger than I had ever seen her smile. Maple laughed and so did I. My life as a werefox was very confusing, but right now, it was worth it. I had my mom, and my true love. Suddenly, my mom pulled away from Maple and said, "Derek!" with a small gasp. "I have to go see him! just for a minute. Foxes mate for life. I just have to see him."
"Wait, mom. If you go see him, wont he recognize you? Then he'll know about werefoxes."
"Don't worry. I hardly look the same." I had to admit, I didn't really recognize her. "I'll be back soon!" she yelled, running towards my old home.
"Come on." Maple said once my mom was out of sight. I knew where she was taking me. I smiled at the thought of my parents being together. Maybe then my dad would be a good person. He was for the seven years that my mom and I were both with him.

We soon arrived at a grocery store, and I saw my dad's car parked outside. We went inside and looked for either of my parents. We finally found my mom with a few items in her hands, and my dad with a cart. My mom bumped into my and dropped her things. Knowing her for as long as I had, I knew she meant to. He got on the floor and started picking up the food she had dropped, and she did the same. I had to hold back a laugh, and Maple accidentally let out a quiet laugh. It was pretty cliché. It was hard NOT to laugh.
They looked into each other's eyes, and they both smiled.
"Hi. I'm Derek." My dad finally spoke, standing up.
"I'm Brooke." My mom stood up too, taking her things back from him.
"That's the name my wife had." Dad smiled sadly.
"Had? What happened?"
"She was killed by foxes."
"I'm sure that's not true. Foxes are harmless, unless provoked."
"You and my son think the same. He always says that she was only killed by two foxes, and it was a freak accident. I don't know what to believe though. I mean, no matter how many times he says it, they still killed her." I frowned. That's why my dad never listened to me? Because my mom was dead? What if she wasn't dead? Then would he listen?
"I think we should go. It looks like they're going to be talking for a while." I told Maple. She nodded and turned around. I took one last look at my parents and smiled. We went home and spent the day talking and racing around the backyard. Maple was incredibly fast.

My mom came back to the mansion and asked me to follow her outside. I told Maple that I would be back in a minute. I followed my mom outside and asked what was happening.
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"Kind of..." She trailed off.
"What happened?"
"Your dad and I went to get coffee and, while we were there, someone from the Maryland werefoxes came and tried to take me away from him. Your dad fought back and got bitten by the person that came to get me. Your dad is a werefox now."
"What? No. This cant happen. He cant come here. I told him that I'm going to a fake school on the other side of the country!" I panicked. She hugged me and told me that she was bringing him to Maryland.
"I'll bring him to the Maryland werefoxes and come visit you often. I'm sorry I missed so much of your life. It wasn't by choice. I wasn't allowed to tell you. I'm sorry.
