We arrived at the mall and Lilly hopped out of the car. I took my time and slowly followed her. I've never had a thing for strangers, while Lilly was the QUEEN of making friends.
"Oh look! They have new spring clothes out!" Lilly says as she points to one of her favorite clothing shops.
"Yeah, looks like they do," I say as I slowly follow her. Lilly has been spunky and bubbly since the day I met her. She's earned that attitude after all. She's adopted after being abused by her birth parents since she was a baby. I love her adoptive parents. They are a lot nicer from what Lilly tells me.
We arrive in the store and Lilly goes off to look at the new clothes they just brought in. I wonder off to the jewelry. I own tons of necklaces and bracelets, just not clothing.
"There you are!" I hear her high-pitched voice say, "I found a shirt you may like." She holds up a dark blue tank top that says "I don't need makeup. I'm already FABULOUS". I giggle a little to myself and take the top.
"I'll go try it on, Lil."
I walk into the fitting rooms.
"How many?" says a woman around her thirties.
"Just one," I reply with a small smile. She guides me to a small room with mirrors lining the walls. I quickly throw off my current shirt and pull on the top. It's a little tight around the chest, so I may have to get a larger size. It pairs perfectly with my emerald green eyes and strawberry - blonde hair. I mentally make a note to thank Lilly for her incredible fashion sense.
I leave the fitting room and walk back to find Lilly. Once I do, I thank her, like I intended.
"Oh it's really not a problem! I've known you for so long, so I know exactly what to get you!" she says with a big smile. I glance down at her hand and smile even bigger. The wedding ring that lies on the ring finger of her left hand shines brightly in the lights of the store. Her wedding day with Michael was amazing. She certainly enjoyed it.
~~~~~~~ FLASHBACK ~~~~~~~~~
"Oh my gosh. Lilly you look amazing!" I say with a huge grin on my face. She twirls in her long ball gown dress, her ringlets coming down over her face. She does look absolutely stunning.
"Thank you Kim! You look amazing too! I knew that dark blue would look good on you," she says with a sly wink. I blush and turn my head. I glance down at my long silk blue dress. It has a small white flower on one of the shoulders and it pokes my neck slightly as I look down.
"Anyway," I say with a shake of my head, "Are you almost ready? You go on right after me."
"O-Of course I'm ready. Wh-Why wouldn't I be? I-I'm m-m-marrying the man of my dreams!"
"You aren't okay Lil," I say with concern on my face.
"Kim, I'm nervous. What if I mess up my vows? What if I fall going up or down the stairs? What if I FALL ON THE CAKE?!"
"Lilly, Lilly, calm down. You'll have your dad escorting you, so he'll catch you if you fall, and Michael will be there also. As for your vows, I have faith that once you look into the eyes of your soon-to-be husband your nerves will fall away," I say, letting my motherly side come out. Just then, the music to walk down the aisle comes on. The other bridesmaids go out, along with the groomsmen.
"Just take a deep breath. You're going to be okay."
I walk out by myself, too busy thinking of Lilly to be embarrassed that eyes are me. As I get into my spot and turn around there she comes. Gasps are heard all around the church and tears start to leak out of eyes, including mine. As she reaches the top I look to Michael and see tears falling down his face as well.
Their wedding goes perfectly. Vows were meaningful, laughs were had, even I said a few words. We all had lots of fun, and in the end, another perfect couple was made.

"Are you ready to check out?" says Lilly as she releases me from my thoughts.
"Oh, uh no. I need a bigger size." She starts off where she found the shirt and I stare at her as she walks ahead of me. She was married, and even had a baby on the way. I hope her life goes how she wants it to be. She deserves it.
