I put away all the groceries then make myself a baloney sandwich. I find that it really helps me think.
After eating and washing dishes I make my way back to the garage. With the door shut and locked I began my experiments again, beginning where I left off.
Hours of working and writing are done, and my alarm to get going to work goes off. I set down the clipboard and shut off the camera and machine. Leaving the garage I make aure to have every lock set and put the key back in its right place.
While leaving for work, I'm stopped by my garage door. I peer inside it and stare at the machine for, what seemed like, hours. The alarm on my phone that tells me "If you don't leave now, you'll be late!" goes off and I run out the house. While driving away my mind kept wondering to my machine. "How was I going to get back to my dimension? Did I even want to go back?"
That question plagued my mind the entire time I was working. I often got orders wrong, tripped while cleaning, or stumbled over words. Nathan came up to me during my break and asked if I was doing okay. "Yeah yeah. I'm doing just fine. I've had a lot on my mind lately."
"Are you sure that's all? You've been acting weird for a while now... I just worry about my friends." I stare into his shimmery eyes for a minute before giving in. "Its been really rough lately. There's something that happened a while ago and I'm trying to figure out why, but I can't tell anyone yet because it's just too much to take in! Even for me, and I'm the one who caused it!" I sigh at the end and place my head in my hands. Nathan sits next to me and pats my back. "It'll be okay dude. You just have to get up and keep going," he says while hugging my side. "Thanks, Nathan. It means a lot," I say with a small smile on my face. Nathan stands and helps me to my feet. "And if you ever need anything, you know how to get ahold of me." We hug for a few seconds before he walks back inside the building to get back to work.I stay outside and look up at the fading sky. The colors dance along the horizon with the stars starting to come out. The pink mixes in with the blue while the purple stays around the outer edges. I forget about everything I was worrying about and just stare at the sunset until darkness takes over. My legs force me to go back into the cafe to work the last few hours of the day.
Nathan smiles at me as I enter, and I smile back. I head to the register, seeing as nobody is occupying it. Only five more people come in for the rest of the day. The cafe is usually packed Wednesday nights because of students who come in for late-night studying or elders who come in for tea before heading home. Its very peaceful and calm right now. Practically no business, which would usually worry me. I'm not too wired about it though. It just means I have more time to think, but I loose track of time because of this.
Samantha comes through the door wearing her active gear. Nathan comes up beside me and starts talking to her. He says he's going to start staying back with me, as to keep an eye on me. Sammy looks my way with concern and sympathy. "Are you okay Kam? Need to talk? Both of us are here for you ya know." She places a hand on my arm and rubs it softly. "No,no. I'm okay. Ill figure everything out soon," I say while lifting my head up to look into her eyes. My heart pounds as she stares into mine and kisses my cheek. I mean into her touch and Nathan giggles at me. "And who are you dating?" I taunt. He rolls his eyes, "Nobody. You two are just adorable." I blush at his statement and notice that Sammy chuckles. A pink tint also appears on her cheeks, which just makes mine grow larger. Nathan clears his throat and when I look at him he has the biggest smirk on his face while wiggling his eyebrows.
Nathan leaves soon after that, claiming that he had to be up for a dentist appointment tomorrow morning. Sammy and I talk while I do the last of the cleaning and counting of money. We walk outside and stand in front of the cafe while looking up at the stars. Suddenly, a plan forms in my head. "The stars really are beautiful tonight," I say in a content voice. "Yeah, they really are," she replies with a small smile. "You know what else is beautiful?" I ask, a smirk growing on my face. She blushes slightly, "What?"
"Nathan."**********************************
IM SO SORRY I HAD TO
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. My writing is kind of all over the place right now because I'm trying to find my style. So I'm sorry if the chapters are in different forms or the words get jumbled a bit.
Please vote, comment, and share!
Thank you~AshCat15(P.S. I just made that joke because I figured it would be funny. Nathan will not be entering a relationship with Kameron.)
