We pull up to Carol's Cafe, my work place.
"Thanks for taking me to work Lil, and, uh, sorry about what happened back there," I say with an awkward neck-rub.
"I just don't understand why you say those words. They're unnecessary and cause bad vibes. Plus that mother did not like you at all," she said with a small chuckle.
"Yeah, I saw that. Heh. See ya Lil." I exit the car with my bags. I'll just set them in my cubby in the back room.
I enter the Cafe to see that some of our 5:00 regulars are here. I go into the back room while giving smiles and such to all the customers. After setting down my bags I put on the little apron that every employee has to wear. "Kim! There you are! I was about to mark you late," my boss Hollie says with a giggle.
"Huh? This isn't School, and I'm getting over-time for this, right?"
"Yeah yeah, you are. Now, the place is filling up! Might wanna get to it." I stomp out of the room and behind the register.
It's a normal day. Regulars comes in and talk with my co-workers. Tourists come in and look amazed at everything they see. A couple comes in and starts flirting non-stop with each other. I swear I gagged when he grabbed her butt on the way out. Then, at 10:00, right on time, he walks in. His flowing blonde hair, his nice bulging muscles. Gosh, I could ri-
"Hey Kimmy! I didn't know you were working tonight!" he says with that gorgeous smile of his.
"Oh, uh, yeah! I, uh, got called in this morning. Heh. How, uh, how have you been, Shawn?" I ask with a shaky tone.
"Oh just worderful. Coming to get my little snack before I head home and I saw that this place was still open. Just got done at the gym actually. Been working on my cardio," he says as he swishes his hair a bit. I want to smell it. "That's good! Not that you need it or anything! Just that working out is good! You're good! Um... Do you want the usual?"
He chuckles a bit and flips his hair again. I really want to smell his hair. "Yeah, usual sounds nice."
I personally make his order. I'm the only one here anyway. We close up at 10, but I always stay open a bit for him.
I hand him the drink and he asks me a weird question. "Wanna sit with me?" I nod my head with an extreme blush appearing in my face and follow him to the table right by the counter. He sips his drink a little then stares me down. I, of course start sweating like crazy and he just giggles. "Ya know, I remember the day we first met." "Well who would forget that?" I say with a slight giggle.

"Carol's Cafe," I read to myself. I had just moved here with my best friend Lilly James. We just finished college a few months ago and both needed jobs. She's applying for one at the elementary school, while I have no idea where my degree would go, so I start with something simple.
I walk inside and and go to the lady at the counter. "Uh, hi. Are you hiring by any chance?" I ask with a shaky breath.
"Yes! We are actually! Are you looking?"
"I am."
"Oh, good! Please follow me!" I then follow her into this room with a desk, a chair, and a filing cabinet. I look to the click on the wall. "8:57" it read. I think that this restaurant opened at 6am, so why is she the only one here? And why are there no customers? "Here you go ma'am! If you could go fill that out and bring it back real quick then we can do the interview today!"
"Thank you so much!"
I go out into the main part if the restaurant and see this hunk walking by. He sees me walk out of the room and walks inside. He flashes me a warm smile and I instantly melt. "Do you work here?" he asks. I show the job application to him. "No, not yet," I say with a giggle. He chuckles along with me and I can't help but notice the adorable crinkles near his eyes.
"Hello Shawn! Do you need to order?" The lady I just met with asks the man.
"Oh! I do need to order Hollie. I got distracted by your applicant." He flashes me a cocky smile. I start to melt again.
They continue to talk while I fill out the form. Hollie, I assume, gives me the job after my interview. Turns out this Cafe is fairly new. Just built last week. Glad I got here first.
