Lilly and I walked around the mall for a few more hours after that. We went into maternity stores, jewelry stores, and, of course, the food court. She is eating for two after all.
"Kim! Did you see the baby clothes that I got from 'Mothers and More'?" she said in an excited tone.
"Yeah. They're all really adorable, Lil. You're gonna be a great mom," I say with a smile plastered on my face. Looking at her happiness at my words just makes me smile even more. I always knew she was going to get married and have kids at a young age, but I never expected with Michael. The geeky, never-know-what-he's-thinking-about type of guy.I get up to go get us both food at "Taco Taco". (Such an original name I know) I give the man at the register my order and stand over to the side. "Michael IS a perfect match for her, now that I think about it, " I think to myself. I've never really given Michael much thought. If Lilly said that she loved him then I believed she could handle it, but she knows that if he did something to her then I would beat the fucki-
"Ma'am? Your order is ready. "
"Oh, thank you. " I take the food and sit down in front of Lilly.
"You know you didn't have to get it for me. I'm only 8 weeks pregnant. I can still walk, " she says with a giggle as she takes a bite of her food.
"I know, but it's the least I can for you since you have something living inside of you."We sit and eat out food while Lilly talks about how her and Michael are planning the nursery. Michael, the strong, silent type - with geek planted in there somewhere - and Lilly, the girly- girl who is friends with everyone and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Then me, the third wheel since college.(lmao same) I have never had a boyfriend. I was always too busy with my own projects for relationships, even though Lilly tried to change that. Many, many blind dates later, and I'm still single.
"Earth to Kim! Geeze, you're always lost in your own world, " says Lil with a chuckle.
"Huh? Oh, Sorry. What were you saying? "
"I said should I go with the baby blue or the pastel blue for the walls? "
"I like yellow... " I say in a whisper.
"Yellow huh.... I'll see what kind of yellow they have. I suppose it would be better since we don't know the gender. "
"Why do you want to wait until the baby is born to know what it is? Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of shopping for certain gendered clothes? " I say, surprising even myself.
"My baby can where whatever they want, and Mike and I want it to be a surprise. We think that would better and more fun in a way. "
"Oh... " We sit in silence for a bit until Lilly looks down at her watch. "Oh, it's 2:45 already. I didn't know time passed by so fast," she said with a slight giggle.
"WOAH WAIT," I shout as I look at my phone time. It says 4:46.
"HOLY SHIT. SORRY LILLY I GOTTA GO!" I say as I jump up, grab my bags, and leave the mall. I leave her with tons of questions. Then, I turn back around and slowly walk back to our table.
"I need you to drive me to work," I say as a mother of three stares me down.
"Oh... Uh, okay. " She pulls out her keys and we walk to her car. We get inside and she suddenly slaps me on the arm.
"Don't fucking curse."************************
