We pulled up to our first destination, a booming club with a line full of people. I fidgeted with the buttons of my flannel. "It's going to take forever to get in, Leah. Are you sure this is the right one?" asked Landon. "Yeah. The owner is my 2nd cousin, so if the bouncers give us trouble I just have to text him," she says with a look of extreme pride. We pile out of the car, which was parked a mile away from the actual club, and start our journey.
Leah looked amazing. She had on a short red dress with a small black cardigan on top. Her heels were at least three inches and had straps that reached her mid-calf. I wondered if she would make it the whole night without taking them off. Her light-brown hair was in soft ringlets down her back. She obviously decided to go with light makeup because I could hardly tell it was there. Liam was always so dressed up, being the total drag Queen that he is. I suppose Leah shouldn't be much different.
Landon looked kind of like me. A button-up with blue jeans. His blond hair was slicked back, but it wasn't greasy like some of the guys in line. You could tell they had been drinking for a while before they came here. The people in the line were of several different types of people. There was the girl group who had one who just had a break-up (you could tell because they were trying to get her pumped up), the sorority guys who were already flirting with girls in line, the older ones who just came to hang on to their little bit of youth they had left (they would probably leave when the building gets too loud or crowded), and the people who didn't want to be there (their friends dragged them there). Most of the line yelled at us when we skipped it and went to the faster lane. Leah told the larger bouncer her name and he let us through.
The first thing I saw was a hallway with just flashing lights and music booming through the walls. I prepared myself for the ocean of people about to come, but was only greeted with a large lake. "It's only 8:53," said Leah upon noticing my confused face, "It doesn't start getting real good until around 10." I nodded my head and followed her to the bar. Landon followed both of us.
When we all sat down the first thing I noticed was that Landon's ring was still on his hand. "You sure you aren't gonna loose that?" I ask him, pointing to his ring finger. Leah orders us our drinks. "I don't know, but Michelle insisted that I keep it on all night if we were going clubbing." He chuckles after saying that, then sighs. "But I don't want to loose it, so I may have to take it off then put it back on before I go home."
"Hn." I say. "Wait, who's gonna be the designated driver?" I ask, remembering that we need one if we're going to be travelling a lot tonight.
"I am," says Landon.
"Yeah, there is NO way you could keep me sober all night," laughs Leah, already on her second shot.We sit at the bar like that for about an hour while the club fills up around us. Leah drags me and Landon to the dance floor and we get down. She grinds on some biker chick and college girls have flocked around Landon. I laugh at his attempt to make conversation with the girls as they start to get touchy with him. Eventually, he shows them his ring and most back off. Two stay and insist that no one will know. Leah buts in and wraps her arm around his waist and tells them to back off. They do, and I make my way over to tell them that I'm going back over to the bar.
At the bar, a young girl with dirty blonde hair sits next to me and orders a coke. She looked too young to be able to order an alcoholic drink, or even get into here. She looked 15 or 16, which reminded me of someone that I couldn't seem to remember the name of. She turns to look at me and her eyes go wide. "Oh em gee! Cameron, is that you?!" I instantly recognize her as Hannah, the girl at the Food Market. "Hannah! I knew I recognized you! What are you doing in here?"
"Oh, just clubbing with some friends. It's Jazmine's 18th birthday," She says with a sigh, "And I'm the designated driver. Sure, I can't order a drink for myself, but the rest of them get to convince other people to." She snorts at the end and I laugh at it. "And what about you? What are you doing here?" she asks me, taking a sip from her coke. "Just out with some friends. Decided I needed some stress relief, so here I am. Downing shot after shot," I say, even though I had only had 3. "Oh wow. What's caused you so much stress?"
"Work," I lie, "It's been tough on me lately."
"Heh. Yeah. School's been pretty rough on me too, what with finals coming up."
"Oh, you still in high school?"
"Nope. College."
"Oh okay. What's your major?"
"Don't know. Just doing the basics for now."We stay talking like that until around 10:00, when both groups came up and asked if we could go to a different club. "Well, looks like I gotta go. See ya around!" shouted Hannah as she got pulled away toward the door. "Who was that?" asked Landon.
"A girl. I met her at the grocery store," I slur. I guess I did drink a lot while talking to Hannah. Leah then takes me by the arm and drags me out of the club.We load up into Landon's car and drive around, inspecting all the clubs until we find one we like. Little did I know that club would cause something astonishing to happen.
