The second club we piled into was just as booming and colorful as the last. We followed Leah up to the front of the line and waited for a few minutes until we were allowed inside. I turned to her and asked, "What did you say to him? Do you know the guy who owns this place too?"
"Nope. I just have my ways," she responds with a devious smirk. My face heats up and we shimmy our way through the crowd.Leah immediately spots a few people she wants to dance with and heads over. Landon joins me at the bar, where I order more drinks for myself. "You okay dude? You never drink this much."
"Yeah yeah I'm cool. Just needed to take the edge off tonight, ya know? Haven't done this in a while." I take a swig of my cold beer.
"I guess I could understand that, but you haven't been acting the same lately. You've been different..."
"I can assure you, I'm alright," I say unconvincingly. I slur the last of that sentence. I think to myself that I should probably hold off on the drinking for a while, and just order water. I do just that. The next two drinks are water, then it's back to alcohol.Landon left after I started my first glass of water. He wanted to make sure I would be fine and when he saw that I was making a good choice he left. I saw him talking with this tough looking guy in the corner near the DJ. They seemed to be in a really deep conversation about something. Landon suddenly makes this gesture with his stomach-using his hand to signify how large something is-and the tough guy does the same. They must be talking about Michelle and the tough dude's girlfriend/wife. I giggle to myself and go back to my drink.
Nobody really comes up and talks to me all that much. Leah came up around 11:30 and asked if I wanted to dance. I did, and we went on the dance floor and danced like nobody was watching. I got myself into a dance-off and, somehow, won! The guy competing against me was drunk as well, but he kept falling down. Luckily, my balance has always been pretty good while I'm drunk. They paid me $50 and I was reminded that we made a bet on it and I could've lost $50. I decided I had enough dancing and made my way back to the bar.
Only 5 minutes had past before Leah and Landon come up to me. "These two buff dudes are looking for you," says Leah. Her face was unreadable, and I couldn't tell if that was a good or bad thing. I got up and followed the two to a back room. Immediately, my face went pale and my hands got clammy. Landon looked back with a smirk on his face, then looked forward again. They pushed me onto a comfy chair and went to the back of the room. A curtain on the right side opened up and two people-a man and a woman- dressed in police uniforms came in. I started to sweat, remembering my nightmare from earlier that week. "We know you've been stressed lately," said Leah, "So we decided to get you some fun." I looked back to see her smiling and looking at Landon.
An hour had passed and the two were done doing their job. I was worn out from all that *ahem* dancing. The man was pulling his clothes back on and the woman- whose name is Clara- went back behind the curtains. Ten minutes had past and Leah and Landon were back in. "Did you enjoy the show?" giggled Leah. I nodded my head. Landon chuckled and tiped the man some extra money. Clara emerged from the curtained room and went to a camera that I hadn't noticed was there. She looks through it then looks up at me. "Do you want the footage? It's only $45." Suddenly, my mind is full of thoughts.
Footage.
Footage.
FOOTAGE!
I ran out of the room. Leah and Landon exchanged a worried look and followed me. I hopped into Landon's car and told him to give me the keys. He handed them over and I almost crashed into another car backing out of our parking space. I zoomed down the road to my house. I passed the cafe and slowed to look in. Sammy and Nathan were closing up and saw me. The cafe doesn't close until late some Fridays because of drunks looking for a nice place to calm down, or students looking to study. Sammy looked confused and Nathan shouted, "Why so fast?!" Leah shouted something back, but I couldn't hear it. I revved the car up again, and next thing I know I'm swerving next to my home.
