I nearly have a heart attack as I turn around, eyes growing wide when I see Jason behind me.

"Wha—"

I'm interrupted when he cups my face and kisses me as the fireworks from the boat start going off.

I'm too distracted to realize that the crowd is cheering as Jason kisses me passionately and pulls me closer to him by my waist.

It's a long and deep sensation before he slowly parts from my smiling lips and gazes down at me.

My eyes eventually open and I meet his sparkling eyes, a smooth smirk placed upon his lips.

"What happened to Argentina? You said that you were still going." I ask, kinda not caring because he was here.

He shrugs, "I guess I lied."

I giggle a little before my brows furrow, "Wait, this isn't a dream is it?"

I pinch myself and he grabs my hands, shaking his head as he leans down and brings his lips back to mine, "No, it's not a dream."

He softly pecks my lips before looking out to the fireworks blooming above the water, a small distance from the shore.

I try to look but I can't help but just stare at the side of his face with an awed grin.

Then I punch his arm.

He winces and rubs his bicep with his hand, looking down at me with furrowed eyebrows, "What was that for?"

"Don't piss me off like that, Jason!" I reply, starting to feel bad for the way I acted when he said he wouldn't be here for New Years, "You're not supposed to lie in a relationship!"

"Unless it's for surprises, like this one, I am." He smiles, flicking my chin with the arch of his index finger. He takes my hands in both of his, pulling me more in front of him than his side. He places a loving kiss on my cheek then looks me in the eye, "You look beautiful, Brielle."

I chuckle lightly, slightly shaking my head. "Thanks, but it's not even anything fancy." My eyes narrow a little, "It's the flowers, isn't it?"

"It is." He nods, twisting me around and reeling me into his arms so my back is against his chest.

"You know I'm not that big a fan of pink, but turns out I actually like flowers." I smile, admitting my new fondness.

He rests his chin above my shoulder and kisses the jawline near my ear, "I'll keep that in mind."

"Brielle!" I hear my mom calling somewhere near in the crowd around us.

Jason and I look around a little until I slip from his arms when I see her. He follows behind me as I smile and approach her.

"Mom."

"I was starting to think you went back home." She smiles and Jason stops at my side, looping a hand around my hip and smiling politely.

"Now why would she ever do that, Miss Washington?" He smiles down at me before looking back over to her.

I see the surprise in her eyes to see him here, just as I was. Hopefully this would make a good second impression because the first one was not.

My mom didn't like Jason.

"Jason," She says, "It's a surprise to see you here."

Jason nods, "Yes, that was the goal. A surprise to put a smile on your daughter's face—"

"But did you have to put a frown on her face first in order to do that? —"

"Easy, love." Dad's familiar soothing voice coos as he appears through the crowd, smiling over at Jason.
