-"What in the heavens are you babbling about boy? The Dark Lord is long dead. He has been in such state since the First War was brought to an end by the Twilight King of the time, Deren Matrixlyn, who mysteriously went missing after she was born."- The guard asks again, eyeing Darten with lots of hate. Darten rolls his eyes and smirks, giving me the chills.
-"Yes, my father, Deren, he went messing after she was born, taking my mother along with him, leaving my darling sister in my hands. I knew that I was never going to love her, so I abandoned her in The Human Realm as a fragile little baby who was never supposed to know who she really was. Perhaps if I hadn't left a note with her name in it, this wouldn't be happening." Darten says, silence filling the room afterwards. He looks over to me and Albert, glaring at him for no reason. "Though he still would've been able to find her, because of the distinctive smell she carries. If my plan worked out well, I would be ruling this Real and the Land of Darkness, but no, you had to come along and ruin my masterpiece!"- Darten screams, throwing a cup across the room and over to Albert, who dodges it in a a flash , leaving the glass to shatter on the floor behind us. I feel the stress build up in me. What are people going to think? It doesn't really bother me if they think I'm on his side. I don't mind them saying I'm a whore or anything, but their words hurt me. I try not to care, but the words still affect me a lot. I snap out of my thoughts as I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn and see Albert, concern in his eyes, which had gone completely black. This isn't Albert. I slap the hand away ad the figure behind me fades into mist. The crowd in the room gasps, obviously noticing something I haven't. I dare to turn and find out what everybody was gawking at, but I can't. A burning sensation flows into my body, cutting my breathing. The crowd gasps once more as I am forced onto my knees due to the lack of oxygen.
-"Albert..."- I manage to say without dying. I feel a finger under my chin, lifting it upward along with my gaze. I see Darten, and he is smirking. Why is he smirking? He was slowly getting his face closer to mine, sending shivers down my spine. What is he going to do? I shift my head away from him, not wanting to be closer to him. Darten laughs.
-"It's ironic how you're still able to do your will, even when you could be on the edge of death. That is the true nature of the Matrixlyn's, endless defiant assholes who will stand their ground even when the Reaper is breathing down on their necks. Oh Darena, if you had only stayed Hunan, this wouldn't be happening. Guess you've got yourself to blame."- Darten says, pushing me flat onto my stomach, my face literally kissing the floor.
-"LEAVE MY FIANCÉ ALONE YOU SWINE! GET AWAY FROM HER!!"- I slightly lift my head and see Albert, holding a sword in his hand. Darten smirks and rises from the ground, then stepping away from me.
-"You dare face me, mortal fool?"- The one supposed to be my brother asks, a sword appearing in his hand from nowhere. Albert too takes a step forward, slowly closing the distance between Darten and himself.
-"I dare to do anything to protect my beloved."- Albert says, glancing at me before stepping forward and thrusting his sword at Darten, who missed the attack by an inch, and possibly not even by that much. Then, he swings his sword at Albert. Both metals clash making a loud noise. After what I'd call mindless swinging, Darten and Albert break apart from their fight, both panting heavily. Albert's sword is dripping blood and Darten is clutching his stomach, slightly bending. Blood stains the tiles, making it evident that the Dark Lord has a serious wound to attend. I smile, feeling happy that Albert has won the battle. But my body is in no state to applaud him for that. I faint, not really understanding Darten's intentions with tonight's actions.
*Jeff's P.O.V, hours after the celebration*
-"That guy just wanted to embarrass her, don't you think?"- I say to Allison, removing the black coat from my shoulders. I hear my fiancée smirk behind me.
