"Mom please!" My 12-year-old son asked.

"No Travis!" I spat, then sighed heavily. He folded his arms & stomped out of my bedroom.

Travis has been begging me to see his deadbeat, ain't shit, sorry ass father ever since I told him about him. He walked out on us after I gave birth to Travis. He said that he wasn't ready to be a father & then the asshole told me to just leave my child out on the street somewhere. He left and never turned back & I'm glad because I don't want Travis to become like him. I don't want my sweet boy to become an asshole.

"Why not?" He asked as I made him a ham & cheese sandwich. I ignored him, handing him the sandwich. Then the doorbell rang. "I got it!" He gave it back & ran to the front door. "MOMMM!!!!" He yelled.

"What is it?" I yelled back.

"Nana is here!" He yelled. I walked out of the kitchen to Travis' grandmother, Cam walking in, pulling Trevor in by his ear. I gasped & covered my mouth.

"Iight, I'm in the house!" He spat. "Can you let me go now?" She rolled her eyes & let his ear go, pushing him further into my house. She closed the door behind her.

"Nana!" Travis called for her attention. She smiled as he hugged her.

"Hey baby..." She kissed his head. I folded my arms as Trevor & I glared at each other.

"Nana who is that?" He looked over at Trevor, looking him up & down. I looked over at her & shook my head.

"That's your father, Travis." She told him.

"CAM!" I spat. She shot me a dirty look.

"Sup lil man."

"My mom said that you're an asshole..." He scuffed. I scrunched my face up so I wouldn't laugh.

"Watch your mouth!" Trevor told him.

"You're not the boss of me!" He spat.

"I'm still your father."

"That's not what my mom said!"

"That's enough Travis. Go up to your room." He looked Trevor up & down one last time, then ran upstairs.

I just shook my head as I looked at Trevor flaring his nose up. I don't know why I was so in love with this dude. I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to let him go raw. I honestly don't know what I saw in him. He was an asshole then, and an even bigger asshole now. But this difference is that he's just like his father......a deadbeat.
