It was a wet, rainy day, that day.

Remus Lupin had had an awful morning in the traffic on he way to his school - meaning he had had to make a cover teacher take his first class, which was always a pain because they never got anything done.

It was his fourth class, the class before lunch, when the alarm rang.

"Now, class, if we look at this sentence - The cat sat on the mat - Is that a simple, compound or complex sent-" Remus was interrupted by the bell, and the students booed, thinking it was the end of the lesson bell, which flattered Remus, because that meant they had enjoyed his lesson.

But it wasn't that kind of bell. It was the lockdown bell. Someone was in the school, and they weren't meant to be.

"Children, remove your items off the table and go under the tables at the back of the classroom." Remus' heart was beating very fast. Who was it?

Remus locked the door, and pulled down the blinds and switched off the lights.

"Mr Lupin! What's going to happen?" A quivering 11 year old girl asked him.

"I...I don't know, Maisie. But one thing is for sure - you will be okay. Just shush, okay? Kitty, quieten down now.

Five minutes passed.

And then they heard the footsteps of a man.

He must have had some kind of loose metal, because he made a jingly sound as he walked. Keys?

The man stopped outside Mr Lupin's door.

"You know, Mr Lupin. I do know you are in there. Your timetable is up on the door, and the lights were on about 6 minutes ago. Please make this easy for me." The man pushed the door.

It held.

"Remus, Open the door." The man sighed.

"How do you know my name?"

"I will explain that if you open the door."

"How do I know you don't have a gun?"

"You can't be sure."

"I can't. The teacher in here has students."

"Make them climb through the window."

"No, I am meant to keep them safe."

"True, but you didn't keep them safe when you started talking to me. Now I know that your name is indeed Remus Lupin, this is your classroom, and you are teaching a class of young children, and that one of your weaknesses is your loving and caring attitude for your students, which is why you are a teacher. Tada." The man said.

Remus remained silent.

"Well, Mo-Remus, are you going to open the door?"

Remus glanced at his students. He couldn't do that to them.

He made a quick call.

"Mr Bates." He had called the headteacher.

"Yes, Remus?"

"The intruder is outside my door. He wants me to open it. Can you send reinforcements?"

"Don't under any circumstances open that door. You could die. Yes, I will send reinforcements." The man outside was listening for the click.

"You know, Moo-Remus, I heard all of that conversation. You aren't going to open the door because your desire is to protect the students. But what if I was here to protect - protect you. From something worse than me. Yourself." The man said.
