Remus pushed his way into the Room of Requirement, expecting to see James and Sirius, but it was empty and therefore eerily quiet.

He sat on the bed, looking anxiously at the clock. Tick tock, Sirius, James, tick tock.

Argh. Why did life have to be so bloody complicated? And why did Remus have to be a werewolf? A werewolf of all the things! It was bloody ridiculous, a thing out of fairytales...and so were wizards and witches.

He had to get it through his head that Muggle fairytales had origins of truth in them.

And so that meant Remus was a werewolf.

Remus heard the chatter of two young men as they bounded into the room. Sirius certainly seemed fine - exhausted, full of food and looking slightly anxious, but as beautiful as ever.

Wait what?

Sirius was beautiful in his mind now? What? Since when?

Okay, that never happened.

"Hey Remus," James and Sirius chimed.

"Hey guys," Remus muttered. His stomach was in butterflies, these were his best mates, why was he nervous?

"Moony you okay?" Sirius asked, eyeing the frowning man as he collapsed onto his bed.

"What? Yeah, how was Flitwick?"

"Fine, exhausting, but fine." Sirius put one hand over his face then groaned and put his face in the pillow.

"That man may be tiny in height but sure is a force to reckon with when it comes to magical skill," James commented.

"Who do we have next?" Sirius asked.

"Trelawney, I think. On Monday though, we get Sunday off."

"Do we? Excellent, we can relax all day and party in the night!"

"No we can't," Remus contributed, feeling guilty for spoiling their plans, "Or, at least, I can't."

"Why not? Got a date?" James whistled. Remus blushed. "He has, he has! Who is it, tell us?"

"You've got a date?" Sirius' head snapped up. He looked forlorn and lost, with a touch of anger.

"No! No, god, nothing like that," Remus looked at them both, "Tomorrow night, it's a full moon."

"Ah...that makes more sense."

"Yeah. It isn't like Remus Lupin to date a student when he isn't a student."

"Seriously though guys, what do I do? Do I have any control or anything?"

"Nah, mate. We all go down to the Whomping Willow, strip off-"

"Hold on, we? We? You aren't coming with me, James, nor is Sirius," Remus said staring at the two of them like they were mad. The pair of them returned the stare.

"What are you talking about, of course we are," Sirius searched Remus face for any hint of a joke, but it seemed he sincerely believed that they were going to leave him on his own.

"You can't, its way too dangerous," Remus protested, "I can kill humans, they are food in a wolf's mind."

James was about to launch into an explanation about how exactly they were coming down with him, but Sirius butted in, a look of annoyance crossing his face.

"We all refer to the wolf as it. Not you, not I, you aren't the one killing, Remus, it's the wolf, it's an it. Please, don't say that you can kill things, because the you I know would never kill even for self defence."

"I would kill for both of you. If one of you were going to be killed, of course I'd kill someone," Remus admitted.

"As would we all," Sirius replied. There was a couple of moments of silence, leaving them to acknowledge the moment they had had.

"After that...heartwarming and touching moment, should we explain to Remus exactly why we can accompany him tomorrow night?" James questioned.

"Of course, you go ahead," Sirius waved at him.

"You see, Moony, we are animagi. Sirius, Peter and I. We decided we wanted to help you after you told us that you were a werewolf, and this was the only way. As animals, you won't hurt us, so we became them. We all head down to the Whomping Willow, go through a tunnel to the Shrieking Shack and then change. We normally hang out there for most of the night and make sure you don't attack anyone or mess too much up. It's not flawless, but it works," James explained.

"What animals are you?" Remus asked with a small smile. He liked the idea of them being animals...especially Sirius. What would he be...well, he was loyal, funny, beautiful- God, again with the beautiful, what was the matter with him, he didn't think James was beautiful. Of course both his friends were aesthetically pleasing but beautiful was not a word that one would use to describe one of their best mates. Animagi, yes, animagi, concentrate on the wolf not Sirius. Maybe a dog, yes Sirius would be a dog, surely, or a lion, something brave.

"I'm a dog," Sirius informed him. Remus inwardly screamed and jumped about. On the outside, however, he remained calm and cool. Sirius was a dog? He had guessed correctly, a dog, God he wanted to see that, that would be so cool and so Sirius, he was probably so awesome as a dog...

"Peter, not that you have met him yet, is a rat, and I'm a stag," James told him, staring at him suspiciously as though he could see Inward-Remus jumping about and screaming at how perfect it was that Sirius' animagi form was a dog.

Remus just couldn't keep this hidden, he had to see this, as a human before seeing it as a wolf, he needed to, "Can I see?" His voice was uncharacteristically high pitched, and James smirked.

"Of course, Moony."

Upon request, both irresponsible adults transformed into their animagi forms. It was an odd process, seeing humans transform into animals, but soon enough, Remus was staring at a gigantic stag and a scruffy dog. He instinctually bent down to stroke Sirius, or Padfoot, as he now thought of him in this state. This really was all he wanted in dog form, the eyes were oddly human-like and soulful, because of course, really this was Sirius and not a dog. He was pretty fluffy, despite not looking it, and a good size. Remus had to chant in his head 'This is Sirius, you can't keep him' in his head to stop him from running away with the dog in hand. He turned to look at the stag, who was still standing majestically. It didn't take long before Padfoot whimpered for attention, and somehow Remus landed on the floor, being kicked to death by the dog. When he put it in perspective, that he had just been attacked and licked to death by his best mate was slightly odd, but he accepted that this was normal dog behaviour. James quickly transformed back and Sirius followed, an accidental move considering he was still on top of Sirius. Lucky for both of them, clothes morphed with the animagus otherwise it would have been ten times as awkward. Sirius, in human form, was lying on top of Remus and he did nothing to prevent it. He soon came to the realisation exactly where he was and looked into Remus' face, who was blushing immensely, and immediately got up and apologised.

"Oh my, Oh my god Remus I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to I was just being a dog and it was natural for me, Oh my Christ I'm so sorry," The confused, innocent expression he had on was too adorable and the blush was too overwhelming and Remus just nodded and said, "It's fine, Sirius," and they dropped it.

Well, Remus thought Sirius had dropped it, and Sirius thought Remus had dropped it, but the truth was neither of them had. And James, well, James was just crossing his fingers and hoping, hoping that his wouldn't get too painful before they got together.
