We stayed with the moon goddess and her maiden hunters for 2 weeks, learning how to fight and defend ourselves, because we did a horrid job last time. I learned how to use my sword properly and hand-to-hand combat. Now I could kick any one I wanted to and do it properly! Hillary learned more on how to use her water manipulation. Oh, I forgot to mention... Hillary has water-powers! She can move water molecules around like a Master Katara and I never noticed! I did not find out until 3 days ago, when she started complaining about some random thing-classic Hillary. She threw her hands in the air dramatically and in that second, an ice shard nearly pierces a hole in my chin. Instead of worrying about my near decapitation, Hillary shouted, "Sweet! I can do ice now!" It was nice to know that I was her top priority.
Eventually, we went back home to Penvert Pines. We still did not tell our parents of the quest or who we were. (Well, they were bound to know that already.) Our quest to find other demi-gods had truly begun.
That afternoon at school, we stood in the hallway. Gray and blue lockers lined the walls between classrooms and hallway doors. Kids grouped themselves in their different personalities. The sorority girls fixed their hair and make-up and talked "who's-with-who?". Some of the athletes gloated about score lengths and dribbled basketballs- cracking some of the hallway tiles. (Where was the hall monitor during this?) The gamers and socially awkward people were discussing the latest Jacksepticeye videos and ways to kill acne. In addition, the school-sweethearts-there were about twenty of them in our school- were being flirty, occasionally making out and ... well, use your imagination. (Again, where you at, hall monitor?)
"I don't understand," I confessed to Hillary. "If we're on a dangerous quest, why are we at school, the second-most dangerous thing in my life right now?"
"Because," Hillary responded, leaning against a group of lockers. "I'm waiting on some people necessary for the quest."
I thought about it for a second. "You mean more demigods?" I interpreted. Hillary nodded absently. "Do they know?" I asked.
"Oh yeah... they know what they are." She answered. "I told them when I found out. We actually have a friends group."
"How long have you known about me?"
"About 7 years or so, back in 3rd grade,"
She knew about that stuff at that age? Dang... "Then why didn't you tell me sooner?" I asked.
"Er...you never asked,"
"I just did,"
"Shush! There's one of them,"
I turned my head to see a fellow 10th grader with perfect brown hair and dazzling blue eyes walk to the locker next to Hillary and opened it. He had a tremendously chiseled chin and he had dimples that could puncture a girl's love struck heart. When he turned to notice us, his familiar face struck me like an oversized pot to the head.
The 10th grader focused on Hillary. "Oh. Hey, Hills', what's happening?" he asked with a perfect smile.
I blinked my eyes vigorously as if I had been dreaming. Nope. "Ethan! He is a demigod!? Impossible, I must be hallucinating."
Ethan raised an eyebrow at me and looked at Hillary with subtle suspicion. He whispered. "Does she know-?" Hillary confirmed it. "Uh-huh. Call a meeting. Tell Hannah to meet us at the library in five minutes."
"Now?" he winced. "You know she hates being disturbed at this hour." He stared at the clock.
Hillary did not hesitate. "Now," Ethan groaned and dialed this so called Hannah on his flip phone. Then he muttered, "She is going to be so pissed,"
