I quickly ran towards my right and was able to avoid the Lady in Red's grasp, however when I glanced behind my shoulder, I saw her dragging herself across the floor towards me so I quickened my pace.

Right before she caught up to me, I was able to make quick turn in the opposite direction and ran through the red door that I had originally entered though.

I slammed it shut and held it closed, but apparently there was no need.

It made sense that since the Lady in Red's lower half was still trapped in the frame, she wasn't able to reach the doorknob.

I breathed a sigh of relief, but I was still fairly certain that she was waiting behind the door for me.

As my heart slowly returned to its regular steady pace, I sunk to the ground and pulled my knees up to my chest.

How long would I have to endure the tortures the gallery provided? How long was I supposed to run from these horrors pursuing me? When would I be with my family again?

I felt a tear run down my cheeks.

Did they even know where I was? Were they looking for me? Were they worried?

All these questions plagued my mind and I barely noticed that the flow of tears had increased.

After crying for who knows how long, I decided to peep through the red door behind me. Hopefully the Lady in Red had now lost interest and I could proceed.

When I opened the door, I was relieved to find that she was gone, but I could still hear her dragging herself across the floor around the corner.

I slowly creaked the door open and stepped back into the room. I made sure that I avoided the painting's line of sight as I tried to find a way into the next room.

As I examined any possible openings, I found a painting titled, "Smoking ???"

I sighed in annoyance as I found that was once again unable to read a particular word

I sighed in annoyance as I found that was once again unable to read a particular word. In any case, the painting seemed to be of a man holding some small, white object that was emitting grey clouds...

I remembered that similar grey clouds would come out of my grandfather's pipe whenever he had lit it...

I continued on to find a painting titled, "Heartbeat".

The painting was of a yellow line across a black background

The painting was of a yellow line across a black background. When I stepped back slightly, the yellow line moved and I heard a faint sound of a drum.

When I turned around, the Lady in Red stood behind me!

I immediately began running, trying to find a corner I could turn or a statue to hide behind until she passed.

It was only until I hid behind the big red statue "Ah" that she scittered past me, leaving me alone once again.

I calmed my shaking hands and slowly moved toward the center of the room again.

When I peered around, looking for the creepy painting, I noticed a red key on the ground...

She must've dropped it when crawling past...

I picked it up and within a few minutes,  I found the door that the key opened.

As I heard the lock click, signaling that the key worked, I cautiously peeked through only to find rows and rows of shelves lined with books

As I heard the lock click, signaling that the key worked, I cautiously peeked through only to find rows and rows of shelves lined with books.

I entered through, glad to be in a safe place with no statues or paintings that might attack me.

Once I stepped into the room however and closed the red door behind me, I heard a loud banging sound from behind me

Once I stepped into the room however and closed the red door behind me, I heard a loud banging sound from behind me.

BANG BANG BANG!!!

I shrieked and ran behind one of the bookshelves in case the Lady in Red decided to drop in for an unexpected visit, but thankfully I remembered she couldn't open the doors.

BANG BANG BANG!!!

She continued banging on the door however as I peered around the room. It looked like a miniature library of sorts.

As much as I loved reading, I decided it was best if I continued on to the next room. It was better to not spend pointless time in this world of horrors. The sooner I got out the better.

However, when I reached the door at the end of the hall, it was locked...

I wonder if the key is hidden in one of the books...
I thought.

Well, I guess I better start searching...
