I followed Darian to his room when breakfast was over. “Uhh…?” He questioned.
“I left my necklace in your room that night. I’m just coming in to get it and then I’ll leave you alone.”
We walked in and I looked around for it. It wasn’t where I remembered it being. “On the nightstand.” Darian informed me.
“Thank you.” I grabbed it off the nightstand, even though I would have sworn it was on his dresser. I walked over to the door.
“Lynette,” Darian began, “I’m glad you decided to stay in Canada. I think I would miss you after all this time, if you stayed in the States.”
“I’m sure I would miss you too, all of you.”
Slade knocked on the open door. “Hey, apparently all of us are going to a movie… as a family.”
“Joyous day.” I replied.
“What are we going to see?” Darian asked.
“Why would I know? If Mom picked it then we are going to see some romantic comedy. If Ivan picked it then I would hope it would be something with more action. Chances are, though, we are going to see a romantic comedy. Honestly Lynette, Dad does not stand up for himself.
“Never did.”
He walked down the hall yelling, “Ali!”
I unclasped the necklace and tried to put it down while we walked towards the front door. The clasp was much smaller than I was used to so I kept missing. Darian grabbed the ends of the necklace. “Let me help.” He easily clasped it while we walked.
“Thank you.”
“No problem.”
Everyone gathered in the living room. My dad and Sharron were trying to decide how to get everyone there. “We don’t have a car that fits more than five people, Sharron.”
Somehow in this discussion it came up that Darian should ride in the trunk, and then it was that I should just sit on someone’s lap. Eventually I got sick of listening to them. “We’ll just take two cars.”
“Fine.” Sharron relented.
Sharron and Dad took the little two person car; my brothers, Darian, and I got into mine. If I had been driving I would had been extremely tempted to not go to the theater. Slade was the one driving though with Darian and I in back and Alistair up front.
My dad had actually taken control of what movie we had seen. We went and saw one of the superhero origins movies. The movie was good, until the ending which was awful.
We got lunch after the show. The only conversation was about the movie we had just seen. No one else could think of anything to say. Eventually Slade wanted to say something to Alistair, and began talking in Japanese.
Darian automatically responded, “Je peux parler japonaise. Imbécile.”
I hit him and hissed, “They weren’t talking about you.”
“How do you know?”
“I just do.”
We got home and there was some girl sitting on our porch. My dad yelled when he got out of the car, “Who are you? What are you doing?”
