I sighed, “That’s wonderful. I knew Thom didn’t like me but what does this Thom have against me.”
“Well, Other Thom hates everything. So since our Thom doesn’t like you, Other Thom really hates you. Don’t know why that leads him to think he should murder you, but it obviously does.” Rain explained.
I saw something staggering from the woods behind Rain and pointed to it. “What is that?”
“Speak of the devil and he shall appear.” Cassidy said. “That would be our Thom.”
Rain walked in the direction of Thom, who looked like Huey usually does, and caught him as he fell over. Rain put Thom’s arm over his shoulders and they continued walking in our direction.
Rain and Thom slid against the wall. “Thom, are you alright?” I asked.
He ignored me, “Where is he? Where is that damned other me? When I get my hands on him, well I don’t what I’ll do, but he’ll regret having just split off like that!”
“Thom, you’re only mad because he split off?” Cassidy questioned.
“Why else would I be?”
Cassidy almost yelled, “I don’t know, because he beat your girlfriend perhaps!”
Thom looked at her hard. “He what?” he growled.
“Beat Jamie.” Rain answered.
Thom stood up, wobbled a bit, and opened the door to the cabin. We rushed in after him, not knowing what was going to happen. The Other Thom stood up from where was sitting and grinned. “Didn’t get hit hard enough last time?”
He didn’t respond with words but instead kicked his other self directly in the groin. Both of them fell to the floor whining in pain. Keegan shook his head and muttered, “It’s just you in a different place dumbass. Not a different being.”
Rain had to stop himself from laughing and help Thom back onto his feet. “Was that all you had planned?” Cassidy asked.
Thom was holding his stomach. “Maybe.” He replied in a higher pitched voice than usual.
“You’re useless.” She remarked. “Since he seems to have developed a conscious of his own, I could probably make him think he wants to combine back with you, but you have to do whatever it is you do to usually call back your other self.”
“Alright.”
The Other Thom got up and starting screaming “No, no, no!” His feet moved unnaturally like a robot towards Thom. His body was facing the entire wrong direction from the way his feet were moving. Eventually he just was walking backwards. The Other Thom’s feet fit perfectly into the spot that Thom’s feet were and the rest of Other Thom just snapped into him and Other Thom was no more.
Thom wobbled to the right and lowered until he slumped over on the ground and just laid there. Jamie pretty much ran over there, in her little girly run, grabbed his hand, and asked if he was alright.
“I’m sorry.” was all he said before being really manly and passing out. Keegan and Huey carried him to one of the other rooms so he wasn’t just in the middle of the living area.
Jamie got up and followed them. Keegan and Huey reappeared moments later, but Jamie never did.
“And no one died tonight. Win!” Rain said.
