I saw a hooded figure with knives in his hands a few yards away from us. Keegan transformed into a lion with a black mane and charged the attacker. Darian, without any combat powers, grabbed my hand and ran me towards the door.

“What about Keegan!?” I protested.

“He can take care of it, come on!” Darian panted.

We ran through the snow until I felt a sharp pain in my ankle. I dropped like a rock and cried out in pain. I looked up and saw a female hooded figure with a blow dart sitting in a tree branch. The dart was in deep.

“Lynette!” Darian cried, hoisting me up and carrying me towards the Warren. Even though he didn’t have any powers to help in combat, he was strong and big boned. He should be a rugby player.

As we were running, I came to my senses and yelled out, “Keegan, help!”

I heard a lion’s roar as Keegan’s beast form came into view. He turned into a squirrel so he could quickly climb the tree, but a dart hit him and he fell to the ground. He gasped and turned back into Keegan. Darian set me down and ran to the tree. He climbed up it and used all his strength to punch the attacker to the ground. Keegan had luckily only gotten hit in the arm, so he stood up as the body fell. He pulled back the hood to reveal an Egyptian woman. Darian hopped down from the tree and took her weapons. Keegan took his foot off of the woman and started swaying.

“Keegan, what are you doing?!” Darian yelled. Keegan fell to the ground. I began to feel woozy also, but kept my eyes open long enough to see the woman jump up and hit Darian to the ground with a nearby tree branch. She must have been really powerful. He tried to get up but the woman ran off shouting “Poison.” Then the snow around me swirled into a blinking mass until everything went black.

I woke up in a hospital bed and saw a middle aged man in a suit in front of me with Mariabella. He was bald and had glasses.

“Now, Mariabella, this is a huge opportunity. This will count for forty percent of your grade if you can show me how to heal a patient in this condition.” He said, indicating to me. She nodded and Rain came up next to her. She walked up to me.

“Maria, what are you doing?” I asked.

“I’m healing you.” She said.

I relaxed a bit as she put her hand on my forehead. She clenched Rain’s hand tight as the light blue orb came around her hands and my head. I looked at my veins which were clearly visible from the poison which had come into the system, but they began to look normal. Rain’s face was turning ash white and his eyes were becoming sunken. I had to keep myself from shouting for her to stop. I began to feel better, and once I felt normal, Bella let go of Rain’s hand and he collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath. I gasped as Maria cried out. She helped him up and sat him in a chair. He was shaking as if in a lack of sugar or food. He smiled and coughed.

“I’m alright.” He croaked. Maria grasped his hand and kissed his forehead. I looked to my left and saw Keegan, asleep in a bed also. His face was so pale.

“What about Keegan?” I asked, reaching for his hand which was falling off the bed.

“We healed him hours ago. The council demanded that he was healed before anything else happened. Don’t worry.” Maria’s tutor assured me.

“Then why is he so pale?” I asked worriedly.

“Well, he got stuck with a poison dart. It will take a while for him to fully recover as it will for you.” The teacher explained.

I looked at Keegan’s dark eyelashes and squeezed his hand tighter. A nurse came in and told me to sleep so I settled down for another small nap. Rain trudged out the door, leaning on Maria as a look of pure terror was plastered to her face. I turned my back to the door so that I was fully facing Keegan. I closed my eyes, but heard the door open again.
