Monday came sooner than I expected. We all got back to the school and all got weird glares from the students. When I went to my first hour class, my teacher greeted me with, “Oh, Lynette, are you better from your boating accident. I heard that over the weekend you and your friends went boating on the Winnipeg Lake and got into an accident.”
“Errr, yes I’m better, thank you.” I said almost like a question. I went to my seat and then silently laughed to myself.
Yes, Huey was driving the boat and crashed into a rock.
Classes proceeded as normal, and I met all of them for lunch. Jamie clung onto Thom like a sea star to a rock, which was odd because Jamie and Thom usually sat as far apart as they could from each other. But, then again, they were weird people. Darian wasn’t at lunch, and it worried me. After school that day I found Keegan and talked to him about it. We sat on a bench outside my dorm room building.
“Are you doing ok Keegan?” I asked first. He shrugged.
“I’m fine. I am apparently going to be unable to do P.E. for the next few weeks though.” He said with a smile.
“Oh Darn.” I said sarcastically.
He smiled wider. “I know, right.” I sighed and started playing with my necklace. Keegan noticed me fidgeting and grabbed my hand. “Is there something on your mind?” He asked.
I sighed again and nodded. I didn’t want to dump my worries onto Keegan, he probably had enough stress as leader, but I was really worried. “Yes, actually. I am worried about Darian.” I said.
Keegan nodded. “Ok, I understand.” He said flatly.
I raised my eyebrows. “What is there to understand?” I asked.
He shook his head. “You’re having trouble with your decision, aren’t you?” He asked.
A panic gripped my chest because what he said was true. I wondered what it would be like if I had chosen Darian, and sometimes I missed him. I didn’t regret my decision, but it was just a troublesome situation. “Keegan, I don’t regret a moment of choosing you…but it is a hard situation and it’s just so…so confusing.” I admitted, collapsing my head on his shoulder.
Again, he just nodded his head. “Ok, I think that we should look for him.” He said.
I looked up in surprise. “What?” I asked he smiled.
“I might not like the guy very much, but that doesn’t mean I’m heartless. He is still part of the cloister and I have to respect that.”
He hugged me close to him and then got up, holding my hand. We went to my suite and we found that everyone was in there except for Thom, Enide, Huey, and Piper. Ace was in there, apparently hanging out with Rain. Jamie was desperately trying to bury herself in a French textbook. Eww, French. Cassidy was listening to her iPod, but I could hear her music out of the ear buds in her ear. Maria was next to Rain on the couch while he talked to Ace. We walked in and everybody looked at us.
Keegan spoke up. “Ok everybody, we are going to find Darian.” He said as a command. They all looked at him funny as Cassidy took her ear buds out.
“Cassidy, I need you to send a message to the rest of everyone who isn’t here and tell them to get over here as soon as possible.” She gave him a thumbs up but clutched her head in pain. She screamed out for a minute and then was able to prop herself back up on the bed. A single tear of pain was in her eye.
