“Looks like you’re having a party.” Slade commented.

I ignored his comment and moved on. “What are you doing here? Don’t you have school?”

He almost growled, “I have fifteen angry Japanese girls trying to kill me at school. The only thing I could do was run. After hiding out for about a week, I’m officially a student here now.”

          “WHAT??”

“Dad had been trying to convince me to transfer since this summer when we all turned down staying in Texas. I finally decided to take the opportunity. Alistair was against it, but after he graduates in March… I won’t have any reason to stay. Especially now that my girlfriends all found out about one another.”

Darian walked up to Slade, “Here’s the thing Slade… All of us are leaving.”

“Hey Darian, long time no see, still fake dating my sister?” He almost sounded threatening, except for the big smile.

“Umm… no…” Darian blushed and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

“Wait, wait, I have to find the real boyfriend.” Slade decided. He pushed past Darian and ended up in front of Keegan. “You! You’re Lynette’s boyfriend!”

Keegan tried not to stutter when he said, “Yes.”

“Better take care of her, or I might have to get violent!” He grinned.

Darian leaned over and whispered in my ear, “He scares me. He must not have been like this because we weren’t actually dating.”

          “Right you are Darian!”

          “How did he hear me…?”

“I’ve already told you, I’m very observant. Part of being observant is listening; therefore I have a good sense of hearing.”

Ace interrupted, “Anyway, Slade is it?” My brother nodded. “We need to be going and as much as I am sure that Lynette would love for you to tag along, you need to stay here at the school.”

“I don’t think so.” Slade commented.

          “Again, what?” I asked.

“I told dad when I transferred that I would make sure you stayed out of trouble. I am pretty sure that running away from school counts as trouble.”

“Lie and say that you must have just missed me.”

“I don’t know Lynette. Mom I could lie to no problem, but dad… I’m not so sure; I think I still want him to like me at this point. Lying would probably start us off on the wrong foot.”

          I yelled, “Slade!”

He smiled and read my thoughts, “You thought because I wasn’t Alistair that you wouldn’t have any trouble.”

Cassidy said to Ace, “I’m not sitting around here waiting for them to catch up to us. He’s coming with us.”

Ace just gave up. “Fine, Cassidy knock him out at least.”

Slade’s eyes got big and he started to back up and out of the room. Cassidy managed to get behind him and hit him over the head with a book that was in reaching distance.
