Cordelia looked uncomfortable, as if she wasn't meant to say anything, but now she had started my curiosity was roused. She looked down, and slowly began to talk in a wary tone.
"So every month, about a month after training that went down yesterday, there's a duel. Not to the death, just with wooden weapons. We needed to get you ready, and I'm sorry we didn't tell you, but we were, just not yet. I didn't think you were ready for it."
"Wait what? In a month I'm going to be fighting someone who's way better than me?"
"No, it's not like that al at. You'll be duelling with someone of your skill level and height. You are evenly matched, and you will only fight once. Whoever lands the most taps in ten minutes wins."
"Why?"
"It's primarily to test your skills, after all, it is useful to know what you can work on when you're up against someone stronger than you, so they use a fae who's around the same strength as you so you can improve together."
"Oh, that makes sense."
We continued with our dance, Cordelia kicking butt with her elaborate moves, consistently knocking the wooden sword out of my hands, and me picking it up while trying to maintain a good enough posture.
We ended the training, and wandered off to eat. The food was nourishing, and filling. Feeling full I sat back in my chair and let my eyes roam the hall. Suddenly, raisie rushed off looking excited. She left the hall in the blink of an eye, so fast I wouldn't have seen her if I didn't turn my head towards the door in time. Without warning, Cordelia rushed off after her, as if she knew there was something wrong.
A little while after they both came back, tear stains on their cheeks, and big smiles. Without a word they sat down and conversation continued. Once it was time for class, we all set off, and I felt home. I had found my friends, and would defend them until the very end.
I walked to purple, the difference between you and all the rest Room 073, North wing feeling excited but apprehensive about the class itself. Would I be the only one there? Who would the teacher be? Did they know about my energy? Would they be able to help me?
These questions ran through my head as i walked down the hallway, heart racing in my chest, palms sweaty, knees weak, arms heavy.
I walked into the classroom and saw nothing. Just and empty cushion for me to sit on . no desks, no teacher, just an empty room with blankets and cushions. I sat down, and looked around the room for any clues, but nothing came.
Then suddenly out of nowhere the candles dimmed, and I heard a voice...
