"Oh, pardon me sir, you have my name wrong, It's Gracie Evans."

"Evans? As in EvanArchitecture?"

The French looking teacher breathed.

Oh.

This time, my father's company came up.

"Yup."

"Oh.. well, welcome to our class, Gracie."

I sat down next to Lily, who was sketching something down.

Soon after I sat down, the teacher (who liked being called Monsieur McCarthy rather than sir) started the lesson. It was so boring, all about shading that I got lost in the pair of eyes that I was drawing.

"Fantastic Tom! You're a natural!"

Monsieur McCarthy showed Tom's picture. It was actually really good.

The piece of paper was snatched away from my hand, and Monsieur McCarthy's face lit up.

"Fantastic piece of artwork Gracie! You take after both your parents, I assume." He beamed at me, revealing grey teeth.

"Uh.. I guess?" I nodded at the happy-go-lucky teacher.

"Nonsense! You are even better than Tom!"

I saw Tom's jaw clench in a reply, and a hushed silence, Lily coughed.

"Sir?"

"Yes?"

"You cannot simply favour me, it's unfair..."

I began, trying to calm down the guy in the hoodie in the back of the class looking like was going to drag someone down a cement road using a three pronged fork.

I felt actually sorry for him.

"Uh, sure Gracie."

Monsieur McCarthy straightened out his paint splattered beret.

"Just trying to be considerate for the less talented." I simpered at our teacher.

And everyone snickered at Tom, before Tom and his goons glared at them, stopping them in their tracks.

Oh I get how this school worked.

"Au revoir children! Practice your artwork for me!"

And then Lily walked out with me, before Tom could speak to me.

Oh my guardian angel, Lily.
