The wind wailed throughout the house. Charlie shivered. She really wished she was anyway but here but yet here she was.
"You ready?" She asked Red.
The reason her and her girlfriend were here tonight was because of Matt. The biggest dickhead in the world. Yesterday he overheard Charlie and Red's conversation with each other and unfortunately he found out about them two. He promised he wouldn't tell anyone and leave them to do it unless they did a dare for him. The first option was to get their best mate on a "study date" with him. Neither of them agreed to that. They cared more about their mates then about who knew about them.
The other option was the reason they stood here now. Inside the abandoned Wesley place. The deal was they had to spend the entire night inside the old mansion with Matt. If they didn't he got to tell the whole school about them. This wouldn't be so bad if the school wasn't 90% homophobic.
Red nodded, her pony tail bouncing. They dumped their bags in the middle of what use to be some sort of living room. There was nothing in there but a dirty fireplace and some logs in a pile by it. Charlie's teeth chattered and wrapped her arms around herself.
"Need me to keep you warm?" Red wrapped her arms around Charlies waist from behind.
"Hmm I can think of a way you can..." Charlie teased holding her hands, "Unfortunately you wouldn't be any use since you're just as cold as I am!"
Red punched Charlie playfully and kissed her neck.
"I might start a fire. Want to help?" She muttered into Charlies neck.
"Nah I'll sit and watch you work your ass off how bout that?" Charlie suggested.
"No you're gonna help! Otherwise I won't make one." Pouting Red folded her arms over her chest and waited for Charlie to respond.
Rolling her eyes Charlie went into the main living room. It was the size of her kitchen, living room and dining room put together. The entire room was completely empty besides some drinks bottles that had been discarded by some teens messing around here.
A large chandelier hung from the ceiling, but gave very little light due to the cobwebs and dust that covered it. The walls were a dim purple colour and a large fire place was on the other side of the room. Charlie had brought in some planks of old wood that her dad was no longer using for the shed to start the fire. She broke one or two into smaller parts and chucked them onto the metal grate.
While she was doing that she could hear Red behind her using her feet to try clear an area to use to sleep on. She couldn't believe the luck she had. Three months ago she came out as lesbian and a month later she was going out with the most beautiful girl she ever known. Her best friend since childhood.
Red had deep scarlet coloured hair and pale skin. The gold chain Charlie had got her for her sixteenth birthday was around her slim neck match her black tank top and greying jeans.
Charlie was the opposite to her. Tanned, raven coloured hair with dark blue streaks and wore a light grey hoodie and blue shorts. She had never understood why Red had fallen for her. Maybe it was because they knew each other so well? Either way she didn't care. Red was hers and she was Reds and that was all that mattered.
Pulling her bag off her back she fumbled through until she found a box of matches. She lit one and held it to a piece of paper she found until it was alight. Putting the burning paper under the pile of wood, she watched fascinated by the growing fire."Hey I thought we were meant to be building this together?" Charlie called behind her trying to sound disappointed.
"Well sorry for trying to make this place safe to sleep! Honestly the amount of needles I've found already is ridiculous..." muttered Red. Charlie turned to see her pulling out their sleeping bags and laying them on the floor.
"Leave that for now." Charlie said to her adding more wood to the fire. It was growing now, like it was about to burst out of the fire place. "Come get warm."
"That things like a bonfire! Have you gave it steroids or something?" Red laughed. The sound of her footsteps echoed through the living room as she came sat beside Charlie.
Charlie grinned as Red snuggled against her shoulder.
"I love you...you know that right..." Red said looking up at her. Her dark brown eyes waiting for Charlie to answer.
"I love you too..." Charlie smiled. She leaned in for a kiss when the sound came from behind them.
Clap. Clap. Clap.
"Well isn't this sweet!" Footsteps approached them from behind.
Turning her body Charlie's heart sunk. Matt was a few feet away laughing at them.
"What do you want Matt?" She asked lazily resting her face in her palm.
"I was coming to see if you were actually doing this. Turns out you were serious." He laughed. Matt easily towered over Charlie, his tall athletic build made him popular along with his sandy coloured hair and 'charming smile'.
"Yeah and now you did, soooo...". Getting up Charlie waved her arms, silently asking why he was still here.
"Well I was hoping see if I could catch some lesbian action? How bout it?" He licked his upper lip and looked Red up and down.
"Excuse me!" Red exclaimed getting to her feet. "I swear if you don't leave here right now so help me God I'll call the police for harassment!"
"Did you just threaten me Lewis?" Matt glared at Red.
"Red leave it, he's not worth it." Charlie put a hand on her shoulder trying to pull her away but she was shrugged off.
"Yeah what you gonna do about it?" Red shoved Matt. He stumbled slightly in surprise.
"Don't shove me bitch!" Matt shoved Red back, harder.
She wasn't prepared. Her feet stumbled back and tripped on Charlie's bag. The last thing Charlie heard from her girlfriends mouth was her screaming. Her screaming as her body fell backwards into the fire...
"Red!" Charlie screamed. Matt held her back from running to aid the girl on fire.
Over and over Red screamed. The flames swallowed her body while all Charlie could do was scream and watch. Tears ran down her face and her arms hurt from trying to break free of Matts grip. Reds body danced and twitched in the fire...before it finally dropped to the floor.
When it did Charlie felt Matt loosen his grip on her. She broke free and ran straight for her girlfriend. The body wasn't moving, what use to be skin was now charred and black and sizzling. Charlie's hands shook as she held a hand in-front of Reds mouth. No air came out.
She was dead...
"She's dead...She's dead! What did you do!" Charlie screamed at Matt. He just laughed and shook his head.
"Not what did I do Charles...What did you do?" Matt said before leaving Charlie to cry over the burnt body.
