Running From The Past

Chapter 26

Edith banged on the door again. Harder this time. At long last the door opened.

"Edith? Captain? What are you doing here?" Jackson asked when he saw the two girls.

Jackson was one of Matt's mates. He had shaved at the sides black hair and bright green eyes. He usually wore the same grey tracksuit bottoms and a plain t-shirt. Behind him came Lee another of Matt's mates. Jackson and Lee were brothers so they had the same eyes but Lee's hair was a really dark brown not black. 

"What's up?" Lee asked casually.

"It's Katie! She's fallen in the woods and we think she might have broke something! We can't get her down to a hospital on our own! Can you help us? Please!" Edith and Captain rambled on.

"Girls! Calm down OK!" Lee said coming forward.

"Please she's really hurt!" Edith said crying.

"Of course we'll help just take us to her yeah." Jackson said.

The girls ran ahead with the guys trailing behind them. The entrance to the woods was a few streets away so they were getting stitches before they had even reached the woods. They ran on and on further and further into the woods. 

"How...far is....she?" Jackson gasped. He wasn't really one for running.

"Almost there..." Breathed Captain.

They reached the lake and stopped . Captain and Edith sat on the trees roots and looked at Jackson and Lee.

"Why you stopped? Where's Katie?" Lee asked confused.

Captain and Edith looked at each other and started laughing. Jackson and Lee gave each other a confused look. 

"What? What's so funny?" Lee asked harshly.

"The fact you have no idea whats about to happen..." Edith stopped laughing and grinned.

"You see," Captain laughed getting up and putting her arms around the boys shoulders, "We hate you...and Issac and Matt...By the way did you ever wonder what happened to them?" Captain questioned licking her top lip.

Jackson and Lee went pale.
"You....you didn't?..." Jackson whispered.

"Didn't what?" Edith asked still sitting on a root.

"You didn't....eat them....did you...." Jackson finished off.

Captain and Edit looked at each other and started laughing again.

"What do you think we are? Cannibals? No we didn't eat them stupid!" Captain laughed punching him on the shoulder.

"So what did you do then! Where are they!" Jackson shouted pushing Captain off him.

Lee looked as if he was about to burst into tears.

"Jackson..." Lee whimpered terrified. Captain was still leaning on his shoulder.

"What!" He snapped glaring at Edith who had started laughing again.

"What is it illegal to laugh now?" Edith rolled her eyes and played with her curly hair.

"No....but  murder is..." Lee whispered tears rolling down his cheeks.

"What?" Jackson mumbled.

"Don't you see! Issac has been missing for days and Matt was found dead! Dead Jackson! These girls killed them!" Lee screamed tears rapidly rolling down his face.

"Ooo Edith I think we found a keeper!" Captain grinned standing in front of him. She put a hand on his cheek and put her face really close to his, "You really smart..." She mumbled in a sexy voice.

"Get away from him!" Shouted Jackson.

"Ugh" Never mind you're just as boring as your brother."  Captain rolled her eyes at Jackson and Lee.

She put her hand in her pocket and looked Jackson straight in the eye. Quick as a flash without taking her eyes off Jackson she whipped her gun out of her pocket and pulled the trigger on Lee. She grinned at the sight of Jackson's face and joined Edith on the root. They tilted their heads to the side and watched as Jackson cried over his dead brothers body. 

"Should I?" Edith asked.

"Give him a little longer." 

They waited a minute while he cried and wailed over and over again.

"You done yet?" Captain asked bluntly.

Jackson turned to them. His face and eyes were red and slightly swollen.

"How could you!" He screamed.

"Yeah this is boring now. Put him out his misery ghost girl." Captain turned to Edith and watched as she got out a knife and threw it in Jackson's direction.

The blade buried itself deep into his skull. He fell back and lay on his brothers lifeless body. Captain watched mesmerized by the blood dripping down his face.

"I wish you'd stop calling me bloody ghost girl." Edith called from the entrance  of the tree.

"Well maybe you should get a tan? Then you'd be less pale and look less like a ghost." Captain replied sweetly heading over to her.

"What we doing with them?" Edith asked nodding to the bodies.

"We'll get the girls up and have a bonfire. It'll be fun!" Captain laughed.
