Chapter 12

The boy didn't notice you yet, so you decided not to bother him. He was obviously here to pay his respects. You decided that you would catch him before he left and ask him about Kou.
You turned around and continued reading graves looking for a certain name. Finally you found it. "Kasumi Mizuchi." You whispered and kneeled down. You knew you would be here a while so you decided to sit down. "Hello." You said softly. Hopefully your aunt would respond. "I miss you. A lot has changed recently and I'm kinda scared. I thought I saw someone drowning today and when they disappeared I started choking and -" You had to stop. You started crying. "I- I don't know what to do. I wish you were here. Both of you." You said, your voice cracking multiple times. Then you felt your necklace flutter. As if someone touched it. Someone like your father. Your hair also moved, as if someone ran their hands through it. Your aunt loved your hair, because it reminded her of her own.  "You never really left." You realized. Just like that everything got better. You felt happiness well up inside you and overflow. You couldn't suppress a smile. You wanted to stay here and feel this joy forever but you heard footsteps. It was the crimson haired boy. Quickly you stood up, bowed in respect and murmured "I love you." Then you ran after him. "Excuse me." You called after him. He stopped walking and turned around. You caught up with him. "Are you related to Matsuoka Kou?" You asked. He looked surprised. "You know Gou?" He replied, not answering your question. "Yes, I'm in a club activity with her." You answered him. "Swimming?" He asked. You nodded. "Are you Kou's older brother?" You asked him. He nodded again. "Matsuoka Rin." You smiled. He had a girls name while his sister had a boys name. "My name is (Y/N) (L/N), but please call me (Y/N)." you said. "Well, (Y/N), would you like me to walk you home?" Rin asked. You smiled. It was probably for the best that you were with someone, considering what had happened this morning,  even though you felt better after being with you father and aunt. "Sure, I'd like that." You smiled warmly at him. He didn't smile, but the corners of his mouth moved. You started walking together. For a moment there was an awkward silence, until Rin spoke. "So how is Gou?" he asked softly. You told him about Kou, and about the swimming team. You got the feeling that he didn't like talking about the members of the swim team, so you changed the subject. "I never thought I would join a club and make friends. Before I came here I didn't really have friends." Rin was silent for a second. "You seem to radiate happiness, I don't understand how people wouldn't want to be your friend." he said. Hearing this made you realize how much you really had changed. Nobody would have ever said anything like that about you before. Moving here had changed you for the better. Before you realized it you were already home. "Here we are. I would invite you in but it's a little late for that." You noticed the sun was almost down completely. "Its fine, I have to get back anyway." He replied. You had reached the front door.  "Thank you for walking me home, Rin. I think we should hang out sometime, I really enjoy spending time with you." you said and smiled. Hopefully he would feel the same way. He smiled back and pulled out his phone. "I think it would be nice. I don't understand why but I feel happy around you." He said as he handed you his phone. You put your number into it and handed it back. "Thanks (Y/N), see you later." he said and walked away, hands in his pockets. You opened the door to get into your house. You stepped inside, and nearly walked into Kiko. "Who was that?" he asked.  

(A/N) Hi there! Just thought I should let everyone know that I re wrote chapter 1! Its a bit shorter than it originally was, but its less crappy writing, as I wrote that two years ago. I figured since that's what people first read it should be a little better than what it was.  Thank you so much for reading, it makes me so happy to see people enjoying my writing.
