Alex wanted nothing more but to feel like she could look up to her step brother.
Her father had treated him so horribly from the day he and Winona Kirk were married. Alex was 3 and Jim was 6. Jim was a wild troublemaker with a big heart and Alex was a kindred soul with a mouth worse than a sailor's. Somehow, they got along with each other perfectly.
Everything the two did would somehow always be Jim's fault.
They would go out driving together, and he would always be in trouble for instigating the idea.
They would try and build something from scrap metal and one of them would end up hurt. That was Jim's fault.
On the day Alex turned 18, she left the Watterson-Kirk household, moving in with her step brother, who had left on his 18th birthday.
Jim worked odd jobs and went out most nights while Alex worked at a clinic. She wasn't a fan of the bar atmosphere like her step brother.
It was Alex's dream to join Starfleet as a medical officer from the day she could talk, and
every ounce of her tried to wish Jim into coming with her. When she received her admission into Starfleet, she couldn't believe it. She had the chance to follow her dreams, but she would be doing it on her own, and without Jim. Jim was just as excited for her, but not ready for her to leave. He had no interest in going with her.
On their last night together, Alex now 22 and Jim now 25, they decided to go out for a drink together.
And hopefully she'd leave the bar find one more reason to convince him to join.
Even if she wasn't the one who convinced him.
