Harold was sitting in his laboratory which was a brand new building in the science zone of the city. Music was playing softly in the background as he worked on a control panel. The intercom buzzed and Sik, Harold's robot helper answered the door. "Harold, madam Sarah is here." Said Sik. "Thank you, let her in." Said Harold.
"Already here." Said Sarah. "How did you get in?" Asked Harold. "You programmed Sik to let me in automatically." Said Sarah. "Wow, okay, I forgot." Said Harold turning in his chair to look at Sarah. "Can I ask something?" Asked Sarah. "You just did, but go ahead." Said Harold. "Russia wants to form an alliance and so do multiple other countries. We are putting out a vote with all the names and see what the people want. Is that good?" Asked Sarah.
Harold sighed and squeezed the bridge of his nose. "To me personally yes, a very great idea." Said Harold. "Good, also is your new device going to be ready for this years Annual World Wide Science Convention, it is being hosted by The U.S in Hawaii this year." Said Sarah. "Yes it will be, who is all going?" Asked Harold. "You and your team, and I, plus Sik." Said Sarah. "All in the jet?" Asked Harold. "No the other one where we can store all this." Said Sarah. "Nice." Said Harold.
Sarah wrote a couple things on her tablet. "I'll see you next week Harold to go to Hawaii." Said Sarah. "See you then." Said Harold as Sarah walked down the hall and out of his door. He heard the elevator ding and close.
"Sik, we are going to be staying a little late." Said Harold as he put on his glasses. "Yes Harold, I'll put the building into lock down mode." Said Sik. "Thank you." Said Harold. He heard doors lock and a red light turned on above the doors.
Harold started to work on the control panel he had. "Sik, can you help me out here?" Asked Harold. "Physical form?" Asked Sik. "Yes." Said Harold. A panel slid open in the wall and a tall slender robot walked out with a mans face on it. "Good evening Harold." Said Sik. "Hello, can you get me the Quad Hexes and oil from the table and bring them here, we need to build this teleportation device." Said Harold.
"Easy enough, plutonium." Said Sik. "But that is very expensive." Said Harold. "Well then we can use other means of creating ways of breaking down molecules and rebuilding them somewhere else." Said Sik handing Harold Quad Hex wrenches and bolts. "Sik, can you get a hold of Aaron for me. I want to call to tell him to come home this weekend to pack for Hawaii." Said Harold. "Right away." Said Sik picking up the phone on the wall.
"Yes, hello Aaron, yes it is great to speak to you again, your father wanted to speak to you about something. Yes here he is." Said Sik handing the phone to Harold who rolled over in his chair and he put his glasses on his forehead. "Hey son." Said Harold. "Hey, what did you want to talk about?" Asked Aaron. "You coming home to pack?" Asked Harold. "For the convention. Of course I am." Said Aaron. "Good, I'll see you Friday evening at the lab for dinner and a small birthday celebration." Said Harold. "Good I'll see you then." Said Aaron. "Well I need to stay late to work some more on the machine." Said Harold. "Another late night, luckily you live in the apartment above." Said Aaron. "Yeah I sold the house here because I didn't need a three bedroom house for just me." Said Harold. "Well dad, I gotta go. This is the last week of school and I need to pack." Said Aaron. "You staying at my place for a while?" Asked Harold. "Yeah in the spare bedroom no one uses." Said Aaron. "Good, I'll get stuff cleaned and empty it of paperwork so you could get your stuff in." Said Harold. "Bye." Said Aaron. "Bye." Said Harold as he hung up.
"How is he Harold?" Asked Sik. "You know already Sik, you listen in to every conversation. You are in all my electronics and in Aaron's as well. Also anyone in the capitol. Nothing can be hidden from you." Said Harold laughing. "Well that is true, but as I have downloaded a few online books about human interactions and I read that asking about others loved ones and their life." Said Sik. "Okay, well you are on the right track Sik." Said Harold. "I've been studying for three years." Said Sik. "As I said, on the right track. Maybe as early as next year in the spring I can release many of you into the wild and roam with your own families." Said Harold.
"So I would know everything?" Asked Sik. "No, no, that is stalking and that is not right. What we would do is send in pre-programmed versions of you that all they need to know is to read their owner's brains and figure out their life styles. Then voila! Every family has their own personal helper." Said Harold. "Like a slave?" Asked Sik. "Whoa, whoa, whoa." That is not right, no. You can literally leave whenever you want Sik. You just tend to not want to leave. But you are coming to Hawaii this year." Said Harold. "Good, the volcano island." Said Sik. "Very awesome." Said Harold.
Harold woke up with his glasses askew and the Quad Hex wrench was sitting on the floor. The lamp was still on and Sik was sitting next to him in sleep mode. "Good morning sir." Said Sik standing up. "Good morning Sik. We have a busy day today." Said Harold. "Sir, it is Friday morning at ten thirty in the morning." Said Sik. "What is on my calendar for today?" Asked Harold. "At eleven twenty five AM there is a capitol meeting to talk about the voting for Russia and other countries. After that at two PM you have a personal meeting with another colleague here in the sciences. After that you have nothing until six thirty when Aaron is estimated to arrive." Said Sik.
"Okay cool. Thanks." Said Harold as he stood up and ran up the spiral stairs to his apartment. He put on a suit and walked back downstairs. "Your meeting starts in ten minutes sir." Said Sik. "It'll take me around five minutes to run there." Said Harold as he grabbed his clipboard and ran out the door. "Lock up behind me!" Yelled Harold and he heard the door lock with an audible click.
