It was about 3am and everyone was asleep, but I couldn't lay on that floor any longer. I sneakily got up and closed the creaky door and quietly as possible. I slumped down onto the patio, sighing due to my tiredness, stress, anxiety, and pain. I leaned my head against the beam next to me, swinging my legs back and forth over the edge. My eyes lids were a tad heavy, but I had too much on my mind for me to fall back asleep.
"Need some company?" I probably jumped five feet, flying forward and almost knocking Lance off his feet and me onto the grown. The blue paladin apologized and I replied with an embarrassed 'it's alright', my face and ears hearing up in my embarrassment.
Lance sat down next to me with a first aid kit,"Thought you might need this," he stated, displaying the box.
I put on a fake puzzled look as if I had no idea of what he was talking about. I began to turn away when he grabbed my chin, making my stare him in the eye. My face went red along with my ears, as he then continued to examine my face then my arm and legs.
He pointed at all my scrapes and bruises, smirking, "You sure?" I huffed at the flirtatious boy, but gave into his helpful ways. Sticking one of my arms in front of him, still pouting. He smiled at me, but I just glared at the vast desert horizon. He wrapped up my arms and legs, bandaged and did everything else a doctor would do, he was great.
"Wow Lance! Where'd you learn to do this so well?" I questioned the boy, a little drowsily.
He laughed, leaning back on his hands that were placed behind him for support. "I have a big family, remember? And with big families comes lots of cuts, burns, and bruises. You should know, right?" he then went on about his family. I began to feel more and more sorry for him as he got more excited about his story. He was going to be, I forget how many light years, away from Earth and his family. I rubbed my arm, but kept smiling as his story went on. His smile always made my day; well, everyone's smiles did, but I loved his smile nevertheless. He was an amazing friend.
My eyelids began to grow heavy and my body tilted,y head resting gently on Lance's shoulder. Still having a soft smile on my face as I drifted off to sleep. His voice trailed off as he felt my weight fall onto his shoulder. The olive skinned boy smiled gently down at my smiling sleeping figure. My legs curled up next to me, my knees pulling toward Lance and I, my arms pulled into my chest, and my head comfortably leaned against Lance's shoulder.
"Buenos nochés, Kiona. You'll have to tell me about you're family next time. I'm truly glad to have you here. Sweet dreams," he whispered as her slung an arm around me and pulled me into his chest. My hair curled around me like a blanket and Lance just chuckled to himself and stared off into the vast land spread before him. He lightly stroked my head as he too drifted off to sleep. Buenos nochés, Princessa .

I awoke with the sun blinding me. I rose up from my surprisingly comfortable 'pillow'. I groggily looked towards the so called pillow, rubbing my eyes. Lance seemed to be leaning against the post I had earlier 'last night', his head turned away from sun, and his face quite peaceful I might add. I smiled and giggled at the future blue paladin, he truly is a big old softy under all of his jokes and flirtatious acts. I lightly ruffled the boys hair as I stood up, needing to stretch out my body even though all I wanted was to lay right back down in Lance's lap.
I scratched my head and looked out ahead of me finding Shiro looking out on the land, just as I knew he would. I wondered if I should talk with him or not, but then Keith came out of the house, heading out to talk to his brother like figure.
"Good morning, Keith," I gave him a sweet smile as I raised my hand to give him a slight wave.
Mullet-head nodded and surprisingly smiled back and placed a hand on my forearm, "Nice to see you, Kiona. It surely has been a while," he said.
I hummed in response, "It really has. I hope life has been treating you well?" I said, not knowing much about his past myself.
He chuckled, "Sure, if that's what you call this," he gestured out around us with his free hand, " life is treating me well." His head turned towards his Shiro, "At least sleeping beauty looks like he's been doing well," he laughed, causing me to chuckled along with him.
"Yeah," I paused waiting for myself to stop laughing. I continued to gazed at my sweet blue Cuban friend," You know, he really missed you at the Garrison. Even though it may not seem like it, it's true. Don't tell him I said that, though, he'll deny it completely," we laughed. "All in all, though, Keith, it's really good to see you again," I smiled again at the red paladin, placing my opposite hand on his.
He smiled gently at me, his head slightly tilting in sentiment, "Likewise," he stated.
I sighed and ruffled his hair with a laugh, "Now go talk to Shiro, I'm sure you've been dying to talk to him," I laughed pushing him lightly towards the head of Voltron. He rolled his eyes and shook his head with a smile, walking towards 'Space dad'.
I sighed and kneeled down next to Lance, not wanting to wake him. I placed a hand on his cheek and smiled. My face began to droop with sadness. He's about to leave his whole life behind and I'm letting him. I sat down on my knees. Placing my forehead on his and closing my eyes an furrowing my eyebrows, wanting to cry in apology.
"I'm sorry Lance.. I wish I could take your place, but I'm afraid if we leave you behind we won't be able to come back and get you," I muttered under my breath, being careful of not waking the sleeping beauty. My teeth clenched and my breath hitched as tears were on the brink of falling. No, I thought, no more crying. You've done enough of that already. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes, smiling. I kissed Lance's forehead and rose up to my feet, staring off into the horizon. I just have to look on the bright side. I always have so I have to keep it up.
For them.
